High Serria Fever

September 02, 2007 | Music
Here is the press release for the upcoming Straight Arrow release "High Sierra Fever" with an unreleased audience recording of Elvis' May 7, 1973 midnight show from Lake Tahoe.

Press release:

The forthcoming release from the "Straight Arrow" label is titled "High Sierra Fever" (SA 2007-7-02), and will feature the Lake Tahoe, May 7th, 1973 Midnight show as taken from an excellent quality audience recorded tape.

Compared to the January/February 1973 Las Vegas shows, Elvis was in better voice in Lake Tahoe, and his shows were more engaged and playful again.

This concert includes classy performances of "Steamroller Blues", "You Gave Me A Mountain", "I'm Leavin' ", "What Now My Love", "I'll Remember You", "Bridge Over Troubled Water" and "A Big Hunk O'Love".

As a bonus, an excerpt of "Surrender" and the seldom performed "It's Over", recorded during the Midnight Show the previous day were added. Both mastertapes were recorded by the same person, and they are of equal sound-quality.

This recording comes from a 1st generation copy of the original tape. As you’ve come to expect from us, the sound was restored in a renowned studio to achieve the best possible results. And it's not necessary to emphasize another Straight Arrow label tradition – this new CD will come in a deluxe package with a 16-page booklet, containing a collection of live- and candid photographs from April, May and June 1973, rare Lake Tahoe memorabilia, informative liner notes as well as details about Elvis' Lake Tahoe 1973 season. This CD is set for release in late September. Don't miss your opportunity to spend an unforgettable hour with The King in High Sierra!

I agree 'You don't know' ! There are only 2 concerts available from this season so far, so don't be so negative Mature. Straight arrow is a good label and those guys are doing their best to release unheard recordings.

I'm sure the show is great but there is a limit to the number of shows I can keep buying with more or less the same songs. I love Elvis' music but my pocket and my mind has a need for something other than the urge to keep on spending on concert material. Each to their own taste of course, but I would much prefer to listen to studio out takes and rehersals.

Not being negative, just telling the truth, for those who like these kind of things, have fun,but as old shep said, how many can you buy? and its a audiance recording, not really something im going to jam to in the car! To me vegas and tahoe are the same, and the only vegas shows i enjoy are from feb and aug of 1970 before it became one big routine!

Don't attack me for using this name, but Sillerman said in USA Today on 8/14/07, and I quote "The next five years will see an orderly release of new music, some never heard before." If this does happen, we'll all be happy campers. I hope by new music he means songs sung by E and not remixes. Some are good, some are bad. Hopefully they'll be different songs we never heard him perform before. I myself find this possible, at least I try to keep the faith. It won't be the first time this has happened over the past 30 years.

Yes i feel so ashame,i rather hear him when he sounds like he wants to be there,i know he had good shows in vegas and tahoe, but i just prefer shows in front of a bigger crowds and away from nevade, for those who dont agree, then enjoy,no worries!
