October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. In support of this the Estee Lauder Companies have pursued the lighting of famous landmarks around the world in pink lights for the month of October - The Third Annual Estee Lauder Companies Global Landmarks Illumination Initiative. Graceland is proud to join the effort again this year.
For the whole month of October 2002, the white lights and multi-colored lights that normally illuminate the Graceland Mansion façade and front grounds will all be swithched to pink bulbs. A Breast Cancer Awareness Month banner on the front of the stone wall that surrounds the mansion property will explain to passersby why there’s a pink glow around Graceland.
