You know what really surprises me is that Elvis still does not have a Diamond record. It's now or never sold over 40 million copies and he doesn't have a diamond record, somethings not right, not to mentions all his other records that sold more than 10 millions copies each.

The main reason why Elvis does not have any Diamond Album Awards from the RIAA is because of the way Elvis' record companies throughout the years decided to delete many of his successful albums and to concentrate on re-releasing numerous 'Greatest Hits' compilations instead. Other artists e.g. Elton John, John Denver and Kenny Rogers etc. all have Diamond Album Awards because they only released a couple of Greatest Hits albums. In other words, Elvis has sold more albums overall than such artists but less of any particular album. However, Elvis' Christmas Album (1970 version) should reach Diamond status within the next couple of years providing SONY decide to ship a few thousand copies onto the market. It has sold well over 9 million copies to date.
