FTD Delete 7 Titles

April 20, 2015 | Other

Follow That Dream (FTD) have recently sold out of the following title (meaning they are therefore deleted and unavailable); King Creole : The Music (book), King Creole Frame By Frame (book), In A Private Moment, Dragonheart, Polk Salad Annie, Hot August Night and Sold Out!

It seems very strange that they would delete "Hot August Night" & "Sold Out!" issued less than 2 years ago (July 2013)... both quality releases!

'MemphisFan': They are not deleted but unavailable since they are sold out. As you said, quality releases, no wonder they sold out! Interesting to see that the King Creole classic album FTD is released shortly after the two King Creole books are sold out. A coincidence or maybe not?

marty, read the headline and description again. I'm going by what is printed above . . . >> FTD Delete 7 Titles << Follow That Dream (FTD) have recently sold out of the following title (meaning they are therefore deleted and unavailable)

It makes sense the deletion of the 2 King Creole books now that King Creole Classic Album has finally been released. Maybe "In A Private Moment" didn't have so much demand. "Dragon Heart" and "Sold Out!" are the ones I don't get why. As for "Hot August Night" and "Polk Salad Annie", the deletion would make sense if they were planning to give both In Person and On Stage a super legacy treatment (meaning deluxe boxes with all concerts) just like what happened to That's The Way It Is last year. Who knows? Ernst still owes us some decent releases such as a complete "On Tour" box set. Let's think people, first was "Prince From Another Planet", then came "That's The Way It Is"... both excellent deluxe boxes.

I might be wrong but I think for each FTD a number of copies are produced and when these are sold out the titles are deleted. I do not think they keep producing more copies for most of the releases unless the demand singificantly exceeds expectation. So deleting a title only means that they run out of copies rather than they have decided not to sell them anymore. Does anyone know if this is the case or not?

sigh... Huh?... sigh

From another reputable Elvis website -- 'Hot August Night' and 'Sold Out!' are still fairly recent and popular FTD releases and so they are being re-pressed.

TheMemphisFan: Just read the article 'sold out ... meaning they are therefore deleted and unavailable'. The article might be wrong or misleading but the context is rather clear...

"The article might be wrong or misleading..." -- So true. Whoever/wherever this misinformation originated from (the Sony/FTD team) should have gotten their facts straight before publicly issuing a wrong/misleading statement. For anyone planning to visit Memphis, the Graceland souvenir shops usually have so-called deleted items stocked for a long time afterwards... with "A Boy From Tupelo" certainly being an exception.

'Sold Out' is the title of one of the CDs that has been deleted, not a statement about items selling out
TheMemphisFan wrote on April 25, 2015
I'm already aware that "Sold Out!" is the title of one of the CDs, and I hope Marty was/is already aware of it, too. But according to your post, Fugitive14, it appears you're not aware that "Sold Out!" has not actually been deleted. Again -- The two titles, 'Sold Out!' and 'Hot August Night', are popular and fairly recent FTD releases, so they are being re-pressed. They have not been deleted... (according to another reputable Elvis website).

It turns out that "In A Private Moment", "Dragonheart", "Polk Salad Annie", and "Sold Out!" are still available. They're available through the Graceland gift site (shopelvis)
