From A Prince To A King

September 17, 2007 | People
Pop hero Prince (49) is currently doing a series of 21 sold out shows in London at the "Arena 02". 23.000 fans gather each evening to see Prince perform, but only 800 are allowed to attend the After Party - and it's never certain that the 'prince of pop' will show up. The after party that ElvisMatters member Robert Aarts attended, turned out to be an exceptional occasion, with Prince paying tribute to Elvis, by singing "All Shook Up" and treating the 800 fans to a 6 minute long version of Johnny B. Goode. Prince's comments on this unexpected tribute: "True Love for The King!".

I'm glad that the short one has at last taken time out to acknowledge a real superstar who was at the top for over 20 years, unlike himself whose career nosedived about 15 years ago although he is currently on the comeback trail and hoping for another hit.

I went to see him at the O2 not expecting much but thought he was brilliant. The show he put on was amazing.Would have loved to have gone to one of the aftershow gigs to have witnessed his version of 'All Shook Up' and 'Johnny B. Goode' cause he is an incredible guitarist.

I agree, he's an awsome guitarist, and vocalist too imo. Plus songwriter. Too bad he messed himself up into the religious mess he's stuck in nowadays. Thats what ruined his career back in the late 90s. Oh and by the way Tony Dobb, Elvis too had a pretty decent "nosedive" with his career in the 60s, and his relevance in the 70s were pretty thin. So no reason to slander an artist like Prince like that.

Harvey, whats ur problem with Prince, any artist as famous as him who is doing a brilliant tour at the O2 Arena and takes time out to perform an Elvis song and praise Elvis, cant understand why some fans knock him
