Elvis World #77

August 08, 2005 | Other
Bill E. Burk's Elvis World volume 77 just came in. You can tell Bill has been busy writing a new book since this magazine has articles on a woodpecker named Elvis and impersonators in China. The only interesting items were personal memories of people who met Elvis in the early days, in "Are You Going To Be My Little Girl" and the James Burton interview.

I thought the woodpecker story was very interesting. Did you hear a similiar story where scientists discovered a planet a little larger than pluto on January 8th and they named it Elvis.

The "Elvis" woodpecker story was included in EW77 because, first and foremost, EW is an Elvis NEWS magazine and anything of consequence, related to Elvis, which we think the readers would enjoy, we include. This woodpecker is one rare bird and the FACT they used "Elvis" as their code word for him, we felt, was newsworthy. The "Elvis" woodpecker has made the news in about every important magazine and newspaper around the world, it is so rare. We have upcoming features on Elvis musicians and producers in future issues. I would have thought our total switch to all-color after being mostly a B&W magazine for 19 years would at least have born a tiny mention.

I think this is a great issue of Elvis World. And I loved the woodpecker story too. But the best thing about this issue ís that the picture are in color. Great job Bill!
