Elvis Sings

El Toro Records from Spain will release three EPs on January 17, 2020: Elvis Sings Don Robertson on red vinyl, Elvis Sings Pomus & Shuman on transparant vinyl and Elvis Sings Stan Kesler on yellow vinyl.

Elvis Sings Stan Kesler

First of three volumes specially released to commemorate the King's 85th anniversary.

Like Elvis, musician and songwriter Stan Kesler began his career at Sun Records in Memphis. A master of the clever song title, Stan pitched "I'm Left, You're Right, She's Gone" to Elvis in 1955 and followed up with "I Forgot to Remember to Forget" and, since Elvis' move to RCA, the other two songs featured on this EP.

Side A : I Forgot To Remember To Forget. / I'm Left You're Right She's Gone
Side B: Playing For Keeps / Thrill Of Your Love

Elvis Sings Pomus & Shuman

Both born in Brooklyn although over ten years apart, Jerome "Doc" Pomus and Mort Shuman have rightly become one of the most successful song-writing partnerships during the rock 'n' roll years. Their first for Elvis was 1960's "A Mess of Blues" and they have gone on to pitch these other great songs at the King.

Side A: Little Sister / Gonna Get Back Home Somehow
Side B: A Mess of Blues / His Latest Flame

Elvis Sings Don Robertson

A talented pianist and composer, Don Robertson co-wrote the million-selling "I Really Don't Want to Know" for Eddy Arnold in 1953 and secured one of his songs, the beautiful ballad "I'm Counting on You", on Elvis' debut LP in 1956. Since then he has successfully pitched these other songs at Elvis and has played on a film soundtrack for the King.

Side A: I'm Counting On You / I'm Yours
Side B: No More / There's Always Me

Not a comment on whether you need these releases or not, but I reckon if you played the Pomus/Shuman tracks to a newbie, I would imagine quite a percentage would be impressed. I follow reactions to Elvis amongst other acts on You Tube and it is mind blowing how many have not heard more than a couple of his songs, but when they do many remark on how surprisingly good the voice is and his total command of the stage..
