Elvis Presley Styrofoam Cup For Sale For Paul McCartney

February 11, 2005 | Other
A now "world-famous" Styrofoam cup once used by Elvis Presley is being sold for $10,000 on the site eBay. but only if Paul McCartney bids. If McCartney places the bid, the owner of the 'Elvis Cup', Wade Jones claims he will donate all proceeds to Heather McCartney's favourite charity 'No More Landmines'.

Jones has been offered thousands of dollars for the cup on many occasions, but has so far refused all offers. The cup manufacturer Dart Container has also allegedly put in a bid. Mr Jones also takes it on tour with him around the US to raise money for various charities. Wade Jones took the cup from an Elvis concert in Charlotte in February 1977, six months before the legendary singer died. Wade has since built up a cult status for the relic. He even has a website, elviscup.com, which celebrates the cup and supplies facts.

This is absurd. The cup has taken a life of its own. The cup is becoming bigger than the legend. Maybe a movie can be made about this. LOL

I can't understand how even the most die hard Elvis fan would pay a lot of money for a styro foam cup! Does it have the King's DNA on it or something? Having said that fair play to the seller for creating so much interest and publicity.

PaulfromFrance, you're a funny man. I like the connection between the cup and the unreleased song, the only tape of which perished in a fire! Elvis being back at number one has obviously brought the cranks back out of the woodwork. No doubt Elvis' wart will be mentioned again very soon.
