Elvis Owned Guitar To Be Auctioned

September 29, 2006 | Other
Dallas-based "Heritage Auction Galleries" plans to auction a 1958 Isana Black Pearl Acoustic guitar once owned by Elvis. The guitar was purchased during his stint in the army.

"Heritage" says it was one of less than 150 made that year and is believed to be the only guitar used by him while in the service. Years later it passed into the hands of friends and was eventually used to pay for tutoring fees by one of Elvis' secretaries. It's been on display at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio, and at the Rock N Soul Museum in Memphis, Tennessee, for the past two years. Heritage Auction Galleries will hold their upcoming Signature auction on October 6 & 7, 2006, at their headquarters in Dallas, TX. For more information on the auction, click here:

Weird, as three German collectors (Andreas Schroër, Oskar Hentschel and Michael Knorr) have recently discovered the very same guitar, with provenance by the original music store that sold this guitar. The guitar case has Elvis's army tag, and in the case is a towel of the Grunewald hotel, to prevent the Isana guitar from moving. Also, it comes with a small Dynachord amplifier, as seen on some of the army/guitar pictures (Grunewald Hotel). That amp too, has Elvis's army tag. Elvis must have had two of these very rare East German guitars, then. Wonder why nobody recalls that... Or in other words: do think twice, it's not allright...

I would not believe that description if you paid me. Until I see a photo of Elvis using it, and confirm the serial numbers on the guitar, I would not touch it with a 10ft pole!
