Elvis In Vegas

June 19, 2011 | Book

Overlook Press showed this cover for the 'Elvis in Vegas' book by Paul Lichter. JAT publishing, in cooperation with Paul Lichter, also announced a suprise release due later this year.

Product Description Elvis In Vegas:

If Elvis Presley had been a painter, his canvas would have been Las Vegas. From his first appearance there at the age of twenty-one, to his marriage to Priscilla in 1967 at the Aladdin Hotel, to the annual "Elvis Festivals" of the 1970s, Las Vegas witnessed the triumphs and tragedies of his life. With hundreds of never before-seen photographs of Elvis's Vegas years, this book is the key volume in any Elvis aficionado's collection. In addition to the 375 images published here for the first time, noted expert Paul Lichter has compiled setlists, news clippings, and interviews to fully tell the story of when the King came to Vegas.

Paul Lichter is considered the authority on all things Elvis. He has written twenty bestselling books on Elvis, which have sold millions of copies, making him the most read Elvis author in history. He has also attended over 850 of Elvis's concerts, and runs ElvisUnique.com, featuring Elvis rarities and collectibles.

"Fasten your seatbelt and hold on tight! Paul Lichter is taking you back to a magical time in Las Vegas when Elvis set up court and reigned as King. He may have toured the country, but when it came to live performances, Las Vegas was home to Elvis . . . The book in your hands is a virtual time capsule that will allow you to relive the excitement of Elvis on stage in Vegas." – Bud Glass, Elvis historian and co-owner of The King's Ransom Museum.

"This is the ultimate Elvis book dealing with Elvis' performances in Las Vegas. It is an Elvis Presley fan's paradise . . . a front-row ticket to anything and everything related to the King's Vegas years. The extensive ‘live' show chapter is easily worth the price alone. Paul Lichter has done it again." – Paul Dowling, producer of Elvis RCA Records and president of Worldwide Elvis.

"If Elvis Presley had been a painter, his canvas would have been Las Vegas." Garbage. "Paul Lichter is considered the authority on all things Elvis." No he's not. "He has written twenty bestselling books on Elvis, which have sold millions of copies, making him the most read Elvis author in history." This is not true. More over-hyped product with a press release riddled with untruths and manipulated prose. Don't fall for it.

Self praise is no recommendation in this case and doubt if the contents will reveal anything new we have not already had in previous 'Las Vegas' book's. Are JAT/LICHTER on a mission to get as much out as poss???....if you are a fan of them well you have a lot to look forward to i suppose for me prices have always been to high for what you get compared to other prices/publications from other well respected fans.......Elvis Files to name as a prime example.

Most certainly Mr Alexander. Each to thier own though. I value where I spend my hard earned money and certainly not one penny bean will be leaving my wallet for this load of trash. Apologies to anyone who is going to buy this and who thinks it has some value in their Elvis World.

Just hope there is better quality photos than some of the "Terrific New Books" in the past, including Grainy B&W Photos, with text filling-up most of the page. It would be nice to see a Reasonably Priced Photo Book for a change. Between Glass, Tunzi, and the rest, they must think Elvis Presley Fans are making Elvis Presley's Salary!

It all depends on us to buy or not. We're adults, aren't we? Enough with all these photo albums for me. The gost of Colonel Parker stills remains in this business. I'll stick to the FTD collections and some Sony's special product maybe. Sorry to be a bit a downer here, but as much as I dig Elvis, especially the music, I guess like many others I have other priorities in life. What's surprises me is that after to many years, it stills selling. Anoying!

I suppose if it is of good quality and shows Elvis in good light, then fine, bring it on. The more of Elvis the merrier. Better more than none. Then the rest is up to us the good public 'to buy or not to buy'. The choice is there. Now, as for Elvis painting Vegas on canvas, errrmm, say what?? Of all the ways to publicize a book ......... ! And from all accounts, Elvis was sick and tired of Las Vegas, so I don't think he would have painted it had he been a painter.

First off does the i.r.s. know he sold millions of copies? i guess not. lol. i guess it was too much to hope for but i did expect a book solely dealing with vegas. but we are given alot of pictures of Elvis on tour and different scenerios other than vegas. Germany,Aloha and tour dates are impotant of course but not in this book. along with miscaptioned pictures such as the one on page.152 where they describe the same suit with 2 different names and why cut Engelbert Humperdink out of the picture on page149 when you clearly post pics of other celebreties with Elvis. and did anyone remember when paul said he never got a picture wiht Elvis ? well here is the non existant pic on page 154,lolyour gonna trell me that there are no pictures of Elvis wearing the Red Ladder suit in vegas so thats why he used a cow palace pic?and another thing that bothers the crap out of me is the pictures that are dead in the middle of the spine,128,139,and 144 have no excuse except poor book editing. this is my opinion, lol
