July 09, 2011 | Other

A new commercial for luxury car company Infiniti features the King of Rock 'n' Roll! The 60-second spot looks at how Infiniti challenges the status quo with more daring designs and empowering technology. The ad features classic footage of Elvis Presley performing for an excited audience. "If no one ever challenged the status quo, rock would have no roll," says the announcer.

This is the way I feel that Elvis Presley deserves to be presented: A cultural and social force, equal to Einstein and the Falling of the Berlin Wall, in its own right. As that guy in “That’s the Way it Is (1970)” says Elvis "is an Original, he should be ranked with people like Marconi or Bell". Amen!

look at all the screaming fans at the Berlin wall, great stuff. Never knw by the way Elvis performed there. Was that during his army time?..

To Deke Rivers: why do you say "someone has this concert in full"? It's amateur footage shot on a home movie camera. This means that what we've seen is all there is. The camera it was shot on would've only taken film that lasted no more than a couple of minutes. So why bang on about someone having the "full" concert. This is how rumours get started and passed on. Stop it, please.

I'm sure one of the Tunzi DVDs has all the footage that is available. There was no full concert filmed in the 50's at all. It would have surfaced by now. The only one known filmed is The Pied Piper of Cleveland where Elvis and others performed and Bill Randall (DJ) hosted. No one has said anything about it in years and Bill is now gone.
