Elvis Back in The Presidential Campaign

Years ago, we all remember Bill Clinton being the cool candidate as the saxophone playing Elvis fan, and since then more and more contenders are looking towards the King to help them reach their goals for the Whitehouse. Songs like A Little Less Conversation have been blasted around the USA and we’ve seen our fair share of catchphrases such as ‘Thankyouverymuch.’ Now Tennessee Senator Fred Thompson is using his family influences to reach the White House. That’s right, his father Fletcher Thompson shared the same great-great-great-great-great-great-great grandparents. Previous President Jimmy Carter is also related to Elvis as well. Apparently, they both share a 17th Century German ancestor which makes them 6th cousins once removed and Democrat chairman Howard Dean is also a 10th cousin with Elvis Presley.

It was not George Bush who is the current President of the United States, at the Jaycees; but his dad, George Bush, Snr.

My great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, Great Uncle Tommy once knew somebody who'd seen a man who lived across the street from a taxi driver who saw Elvis do his own stunts (i.e. jumping off the cliff in Acapulco) in his movies. I'm now thinking of running for president of the Joe Esposito Talks Bollox fan club.

Wrong[to the post below]! I LOVE Elvis but have no good feelings for Mr. Fred. On a positive note, as much as I dislike the combination of politics and Elvis? It really is amazing how vast and varied these politicians are in their views but yet they have some effect in their lives from Elvis. Elvis truly is everywhere. However, just because somebody is 12 times removed or such from Elvis does not make me in any way likely to vote for them. In actuality for me? Some candidates bringing up Elvis just seems false - as if they have some of his magic when they obviously don't evoke any sense of his passion. Bush at Graceland was hilarious and pathetic all at once. I am no Clinton fan but he did at least seem to understand/feel Elvis' music. Fred just reminds me of Col. Parker. *shudder* I'm sure if we try hard enough we can all claim to be ump-teenth times removed from Elvis. So what's the big to-do if Fred and Jimmy are related to Elvis?
