Dixieland Delight Released

May 22, 2009 | Music

The Follow That Dream CD "Dixieland Delight" has been released. The 2-CD digipack set features concert performances from May 31, 1975 and June 1, 1975 in Huntsville, Alabama. Elvis was truly inspired by the superb reaction he received in Huntsville, selling out five shows. The only time he did so many consecutive performances in one city.

I was a bit wary when I saw "Mastered by Lene Reidel" but she's done a fine job this time. Sound is very good, a little bassier than Madison's version but that's ok. A very nice job has been done on the packaging, I think they've been looking at the recent spate of bootl....imports. There is a booklet! only 8 pages but nice photos and a brief outline of why there were 5 concerts in Huntsville. Let's hope, as mature_elvis says, that booklets are to be the norm with digi-packs from now on.

Now i have to wonder about the sound,as for these shows being released already, bootlegs dont count, everyone should have the chance to get these, but again whats the sound,is there too much bass?
whetherman wrote on May 24, 2009
mature, no there's not too much bass at all. The overall sound of disc 1 is very similar to Madison's Wild Weekend in Huntsville vol 1. The second disc is, in my opinion, clearer and better than Audionics Adios Huntsville. Another person might not agree but hey, people hear things differently. Overall I enjoyed listening to both CDs and they'll be getting a lot more plays yet.

My Birthday Today which i received this new double pack which also inlcludes a performance on my birthday but wasn't alive at the time lol. I have to say this digipack is awesome, the booklet has some great pics in its short but sweet, the pics behind the discs are great. and as for the sound, in my opinion it's probably the best sound we can acheive and i think the sound is great, clearly hear elvis and the band, just want we want.

This package looks great, although I would like to have more linernotes. However, after reading some comments on this shows my expectations were probably a bit too high. The shows are fine -Elvis always had some brilliant moments- but (in my opinion) they don't stand out in unusual songmaterial or vocal performance from Elvis. Although the response from the crowd is superb indeed!
