Details A Greensboro Revolution!

July 23, 2008 | Music
Here's the covert art of next Madison release "A Greensboro Revolution! - Standing Room Only Tapes, Volume One". It will be released soon and Volume Two should follow 3-4 weeks after.
Press-release: This sparkling performance, recorded in Greensboro, NC on Friday, April 14, 1972, in the presence of MGM's documentary cameras, has been issued many times in the past, but never in such great sound quality. For the very first time, hear the show mixed down from MGM multi-track tapes into superb stereo. The April 1972 tour was Presley's first of the year. And he was ready. Three outstanding performances from this gig made the final cut of "Elvis On Tour" -- "Bridge Over Troubled Water," "An American Trilogy" and "Funny How Time Slips Away." In 1992, "The Lost Performances" gave fans a fourth visual, with the inclusion of "Release Me." All are here, and the entire evening is a delight. Track listing : 01. Introduction: Also Sprach Zarathustra 1:04 ; 02. C.C. Rider 3:09 ; 03. Proud Mary 2:43 ; 04. Never Been To Spain 3:36 ; 05. You Gave Me A Mountain 3:13 ; 06. Until It's Time For You To Go 2:36 ; 07. Bought. Why aren't FTD giving us quality like this?

Reminds me of the Greensboro concert (Triangle) , one of the best soundboards ever. And what about vicky's Sweet Carolina? Buying 3 times the same concert? No thanks. I'll wait for the Madison's announced 1973 soundboard, I have a dream: Atlanta july 3rd 1973??

Yes, it would be fantastic to get the two Virginia concerts (Hampton Roads & Richmond) complete. We've waited long enough!

By the way, isn't Madison forgetting to release the missing Huntsville concert, May 30th 1975? They already announed it last year! Title: A wild weekend in Huntsville volume 3. Would be also a fine next upcoming release.

Ronaldv: Madison NEVER announced any WWIH VOL. 3 and May 30, 75 tape is not available.

I got the Triangle release, too, but is only a CD-R so this Madison release is a Must Have.

It will be hard to beat the TRIANGLe version, one of the best sounding shows ever. That goes for Hampton roads also...(But i do hope it will be complete by Madison altough i doubt it) We just have to wait and hear...

FTD where are you ?????????
Pedro Nuno wrote on July 24, 2008
Guys let's face it! Only Import labels can release this type of Concerts, because they don't pay any royalties! So it's very easy to release any kind of shows! FTD can't release this type of concerts because the Royalties they would pay for this are way too far from the sales they get with their releases. So let's not blame FTD for nothing and just praise Madison for their work!
Pedro Nuno wrote on July 24, 2008
When I say "Import Labels" I say it in general, and not necessary Madison Records, since there are some import releases that are fully legal according the copy right laws of some specific country! Anyway all those labels are what kept Elvis alive during decades!

Wayup: The title vol 3, I made it up myself of course, I'm aware of that. But I know for sure that in 2007 all the Huntsville may/june 1975 concerts were announced for a release. Besides that, there is a (audience) tape available on cdr for years now.

Pedro you should check to see what FTD and BMG have already put out. Of course they can release Elvis concerts!!! And as far as the On Tour shows go they already have put out the April 18, 1972 San Antonio show.

This is going to be yet another peach of a release from Madison - again superceding previous versions..! The sound samples posted some time ago over at the Australian Elvis site show it to sound much better, to boot.
