Cybill Shepherd's Tribute To Elvis

October 03, 2004 | People
Hollywood actress Cybill Shepherd was reportedly so touched when she visited the grave of her former lover, rock & roll king Elvis Presley, that she has written a song called 'Graceland Revisited' as a tribute to Presley.

The song, which took four years to write and talks about her visit to Presley's grave in Memphis, is a part of the 54-year old actresses soon to be released album 'At Home With Cybill,' reports Rate the music.

"It just knocked me sideways with a big emotional wallop. I worked on that song for four years to get it right. It took so long because it had great reverberations for me," the report quoted her as saying.

I never heard Cybill say anything good about Elvis. If they were such close lovers, how come there is not one single picture of them together? Her so called relationship has grown from a weekend to months to a mad affair over the years! Her story is false in my opinion. The only thing I ever hear from her about Elvis is that he was a drug taking sex fiend! Bad cybill !! Stop using Elvis' name to further your failing career...A King, MA

I agree. I think the whole thing is absolute crap. I actually saw here on a prime time TV chat show in England a few years ago, saying how Elvis smelled so badly and would never wash himself. Bye bye Cybill.

Jim, you must be getting confused with what Marty Lacker has said about Elvis. Cybil has never said any such thing. Indeed she is 'on record' as saying that Elvis always smelt fantastic - she loved his aftershave - and this is what originally attracted her to him.

No I'm not confused. I saw it on BBC1 television a few years ago. She clearly stated that Elvis would never bath or shower and would often smell terribly. She was probably selling a book or something !

Harmston. Elvis' Aftershave was what originally attracted her to him? Of course it couldn't have been because he was devastatingly handsome and the most famous star on the planet?? As far as Elvis not bathing is concerned, if I could get the women he did then that's the end of bath night for me! Doesn't seem to have been something mentioned by the vast majority of people who knew him. Just another example of a very minor actress trying to attract attention to herself, and the song is just another way of cashing in on her association with Elvis - an association blown out of all proportion.

Cybill Shepard sucks! She was on David Letterman years ago saying negative things about Elvis. She is totally in love with herself and publicity. She'll say anything if it keeps her name in the papers.

Have you all seen her lately? She looks horrible and ugly..just like a fat witch. If Elvis is around and sees her today, he will vomit!!!

I totally agree with king77 and the others, I visited Memphis in August and had the chance to talk to George Klein and others Elvis related people and we also talked about Cybill Shepherd. They all agree, she just pretends to know most of the things she says about Elvis. That's a smart publicity move she made once and people still relate her to Elvis. how heartbreaking to hear that it took four years to write the song, ooh and the big emotional wallop, I can't hold my tears... some people are just disgusting and they don't even realize it! bet she thinks Elvis fans will buy her crap record?

Totally agree with King77. I cannot stand Cybil Shepherd with that false smile which appears to be everywhere at the moment. Again, yet another hanger on, trying to make money out of association with Elvis. Does she really believe we are all as ignorant as her!

Hi! I agree with allmost all of you outthere!

This is the complete rubbish - how can ANYONE work on one single song for FOUR YEARS? If thats the fact, then there got to be a big gaping empty hole where the songwriter skills should have been stored, and she should have done anything but writing songs. Or communicating at all.

Well Cybil has not got nothing nice to say on Elvis . All this rubbish of- takin a long time makin a single album - what crap,./; she should get a reality chec and wake up live in the real world .

I agree with pareto. She is a disgrace. Every time I hear her name mentioned, I cringe to think she will be asked about Elvis, and given an opportunity to make up stories and use him in this way. She should be ashamed of herself, but she strikes me a a graceless, crude person, so I guess she doesn't know how to feel sorry.

This woman recently appeared on a british chat show. IMO she came across as insincere, false and a bit of a slag. Who on earth does she think she is anyway? Four years to write a song, what utter tripe. Anyone heard this masterpiece yet?

I have seen her on a few TV programmes in the UK being interviewed over the last 12 months and she comes across as a bit of a looney tune. On the Jonathan Ross show last week she scared the other guests in the green room & on GMTV she looked like 'road kill'. On the Graham Norton show last year she came across as an 'old slapper'. The British people don't take her seriously she attempts to shock but actually I think Brits in general think shes a sandwich short of a full picnic, if you know what I mean!!

I'm a bit confused here. I saw Cybil Shepard on George Kleins program Elvis Memories back in the eighties and she seemed to say good things about Elvis. I think she said something about what a good mannered gentleman Elvis was. So why all the bad things later on?

I new to the group so Hello everyone!! I think Cybill is using her "relationship" with Elvis for publicity because her career is going nowhere and she needs a little publicity. I didn't even know she could sing, much less doing anything else.

That Elvis Presley was his former lover ... a bad begin for this story that have many names. That Elvis want to marry with them, that were his lover. A old story because the colonel chose the lover that paid better to be gone to bed with Elvis presley.
