Cover Art Spinout DVD

May 08, 2004 | Video
Here is the cover art for the Warner Home Video region 1 DVD release "Spinout". Arriving on 3rd August 2004 with a retail price of $14.97 each all films are remastered in new 16x9 digital transfers, in a format preserving the “scope” aspect ratio of their original theatrical exhibition, enhanced for widescreen TVs. The DVDs also include an Elvis Presley trailer gallery.

I think having the original theatrical poster art on the DVD cover is a great idea. This goes for all the recent Warner releases that used the same idea.

These SPINOUT & SPEEDWAY DVD cover art are actually Original Cinema Posters...originally designed by MGM. I'm glad that they are finally doing something right. SPINOUT is a great movie. Very entertaining with good songs! I will definately buy this.

I agree ...the cover of Spinout and Speedway are excellent. Take a lesson EPE/BMG

Yes, very very nice. This is how it should be done - use the original artwork. Excellent! I was of course hoping for some bonus tracks, like outtakes from the raw material etc, but hey - Im not complaining. Also excellent that they keep the scope aspect ratio - this is quality releases!

Where are GIRL HAPPY and KISSIN' COUSINS? Are they still having rights problems with the songs "Startin' Tonight" and "Smokey Mountain Boy"? GIRL HAPPY remains one of the best, IMHO

MGM have done some real good work on these covers. Although they are based on the Original Film Poster artwork, images and text have been moved around. Brilliant. Shame that they haven't kept to the same theme for Trouble with Girls. A shame that EPE/BMG could not have produced better covers for the upcoming 68 TV Special & Aloha DVD's. I thought we moved away from the "crappy cover designs" that we used to get in the late 70's, but I guess it costs less to produce basic artwork than to pay costs for full colour photographic printing.

As mention several times on various sites, there are copyright problems with the two songs previously mentioned. They are both by the same writers, and its probably down to wanting more money. MGM are not yet ready to give in I guess, and rather than remastering the film print for DVD minus the songs, they are hopeful that the problem can be resolved. I think in 2014, the songs will go out of copyright, but that's another story.

I would bet that outtakes from some of Elvis movies exist but they probably wont surface for years. if they do exist they are buried somewhere in piles and piles of film. most stuff was thrown away back then but someone must have realized that they were throwing away history at some point. probably Elvis last movies have outtakes but its probably going to be 10 years before we see them. the only ones I seen are a few second parts from Jailhouse Rock. it would be awesome to see a outtake from SPin Out.
