Well, long awaited and was it worth the wait? First impressions are that the book, whilst luxuriously finished (with silver leaf down the pages) offers very little new, and the quality of some of the the pictures leave a bit to be desired in terms of quality - washed out and dull. Actually, very very little, I haven't seen before, if anything at all. So disappointed with the book, but the most important part of the set is the sound quality, and in a word - incredible! The sound really is incredible, much better than anything we've had before, especially on the Sun recordings, where Mystery Train and Trying To get To You are utterly brilliant. The mastering is a work of genius, well, let me qualify that; the mastering of the first 27 discs is the work of a genius (Vic Anesini). The 'rareties' on discs 28-30 are not. Sometimes - especially the 50's acetates - sounding inferior to previous versions, although they may just appear to be worse given just how good the other tracks are. For some reason, these were mastered by Lene Reidel. Comparing discs 1-27 to their Japanese 24 bits versions, the new set is clearer, cleaner and more dynamic. An absolute bargain at the price - Vic's mastering really is that good!

It's good to hear that the sound quality does live up to expectations, which really is the main reason for buying this set.

I got my copy last week, when the guy delivered it I thought they were delivering a suitcase, its huge. The packaging and quality of the set is awesome. The book is beautifully done, not a lot of new content but again very high quality item. The 30 cd collection and the packaging is well thought out and good quality, as for the sound, discs 1 - 27 are awesome! Final 3 discs are good considering the source. Although this set was expensive and I was having second thoughts about purchasing it I am really pleased I have, this truly is the Rolls Royce of all Elvis collections.

Fantastic sound! Never heard better anywhere! The one negative about the packaging is that when you slide a cd out of the tight fitting cardboard packaging, it is so easy to scuff the discs! I would have expected softer, safer, material to house these expensive discs. Sony, send us a better case please! We paid for it!
