I like the cover and all around color and layout of the CD.

Why do they re-release the 1970 package of Elvis' Christmas Album under another title? Will sales of this cd be added toward the 9 million+ sales of the original album 1970 album? That could give Elvis his first diamond award.

Do the fans of any other artist buy the same old stuff over and over again just because it's repackaged?
JerryNodak wrote on September 13, 2007
1. Most other artists don't have as much stuff to repackage. 2. Even those that do, their label doesn't repackage it. Therefore, it's not available. 3. If it's repackagaged, it's available. 4. Just because it's repackaged/available doesn't mean you have to buy. 5. Without repackaging, collecting would be boring. 6. This is great repackaging. Beautiful artwork. Great overall package. If I can find this, I'll probably buy it. 7. Thanks, Madacy.

I called Sony/BMG in New York and was told this is being released by RCA. They could not connect me since their office was closed. If anyone have any info on where we can get this let me know. I will try again tomorrow. Thanks.

Found it. Released 8/21/07 at Best Buy for $17.99, but it's back ordered.

Also found it on shopelvis for more. Bought it, I'm done.

I, too, found it on shopelvis. It's listed under collectables for those who are interested. I'm sure I'll buy it, but I'm going to wait 'til it's closer to Christmas, and see if I can purchase it at a lesser price than shopelvis is asking.

Whats so great about this? Why would anyone need to buy these songs again? Dont forget next years Christmas repackage. You know there will be one. Without repackaging collecting would be boring? Collecting has been boring since 45s & LPs went away. Why not spend money on a nice dinner instead or buy your wife some flowers. Once on a CD is enough for me.

The Christmas art is really nice and may appeal to a new generation who has'nt heard all these songs before. I swear to you I heard an Elvis Christimas song that hasnt been released yet on the radio once. I know it's out there. I can't remember what the name was. It was even annouced that it was an Elvis unrealesed Christmas song. I am not mistaken. I've been an Elvis fan for 49 years so I know his voice. It may have been Joy To The World. Please let me know if you know something.

Yes new generation, fine, no problem. For those of us who have been buying this stuff since the 50's, I just dont get to keep buying it simply for new cover art. Its the same stuff over & over & over, ad nauseum!

So let me get this straight,if they make a new cover every year it will appeal to new fans etc? so the only thing keeping folks from buying is,they see the cover and say i love the songs but the cover isnt right? this label floods the market with pointless cd's and on doesnt even advertise that fact it has a collectors label! great marketing

Mature - I dont get it either. I was trying to be agreeable. I never knew or heard of a 'new' fan buying a CD collection for the new packaging. If a CD collection is out there and it is a classic collection, the appeal of it would transcend generations. Just like his first LP. Would anyone dare to change that classic design? NO! The original cover art should always sell no matter who the buyer is as long as the songs are great.

I bought this new release, not because of the cd. I have plenty of the same songs on cds. I bought it because of the content. I don't collect plates, pillows, etc., but I do collect pictures and new cds with outakes and shows. I like the idea of it being in a tin with pictures. We all collect different things for different reasons.

Yes, and when BMG/Sony Special Products re-releases Elvis' Christmas Album (1970 package) at some point in the future with original cover photo as a part of their Camden re-release series I'll buy it again. As for this current re-package, I may well give it as a Christmas gift to a very good friend and huge Elvis fan.

Is that a guitar for your christmas tree you get with this release? Or is it a candle?
