Car Show At Graceland

January 21, 2010 | Other

Elvis Presley is the most recognizable icon in the world today. As a pop culture phenomenon, he is known for his music, charisma, looks, and his love for cars. During his lifetime it is estimated that Elvis purchased over 200 automobiles including a 1956 Purple Cadillac Eldorado Convertible, a 1973 Stutz Blackhawk and, of course, the famous 1955 Pink Cadillac Fleetwood.

For the first time ever, May 27 – 30, 2010, Elvis’ love for collecting cars will be celebrated when Icons presents The International Elvis Motor Classic Car Show at Graceland during Memorial Day weekend in Memphis, Tennessee. This special four day event will be filled with entertainment, competitions and plenty of classic cars for exhibitors and visitors to see and enjoy. More than a thousand cars from car clubs throughout the country will be on display throughout the 70 acres that surround Elvis Presley’s Graceland in Memphis. This unique and family friendly car show is just one of the many elements of the yearlong celebration of Elvis' 75th Birthday year in 2010.

“For many years we have had small car shows and exhibitions here at Graceland,” said Jack Soden, President and CEO of Elvis Presley Enterprises, Inc. “But this is by far the largest display of classic cars not only at Graceland but in this entire area.”

In addition to showcasing their rare automobiles at the most famous home in the world, collectors will be able to experience the Elvis Presley Automobile Museum, tour Elvis Presley’s Graceland and other exhibits, receive special merchandise discounts and special accommodation rates, and enjoy live entertainment.

“Elvis was passionate about collecting cars so Graceland is the perfect place for collectors to commemorate his 75th Birthday,” said Walt Hollifield, world renowned car show organizer and exhibitor expert involved with the first ever International Elvis Motor Classic Car Show. “We’ve been receiving calls from clubs as far away as Colorado and Canada who are going to be bringing cars to Graceland and Memphis.”
