Britain's Calendar Boys

November 15, 2004 | People
Singer Robbie Williams is Britain's calendar stud based on sales figures so far. Beckham's popularity is on the wane - he has slipped from number two to this year's five. It is the first time the England captain has been knocked out of the top three in five years. World Cup rugby hero Jonny Wilkinson is one of the most popular male hunks in third place. Robbie Williams has knocked Sir Cliff Richard, last year's number one, into second place in the chart. Sir Cliff has been in the top three for 25 years. "Crooner" (as they put it) Elvis Presley is one above Beckham at number four.

A spokeswoman for Europe's largest official calendar firm Danilo said: "It's early days yet. "The 2005 calendars haven't been in the shops that long and David Beckham still has room to manoeuvre. "But his position is a surprise."

Frankly I don't give a damn what place Elvis is in this stupid chart. Elvis was, is and always will be the No.1 SINGER! What really bugged me in this useless info is calling Elvis a "crooner"!! Elvis a CROONER?! What monkey brain wrote this? Bing Crosby was a crooner. Dean Martin was a crooner. Elvis was, or should I say is, the Greatest ROCK 'N' ROLL Singer in the World - bar none. Of course he sang ballads, "Anything That's Part Of You", "Can't Help Falling In Love", the list is endless. But compare Elvis' "White Christmas" to Bing Crosby's version - nuff said!

Besides the "crooner" comment i think it is good to see Elvis (and Cliff for that matter) listed between these young idols.
