BMG UK Marketing Plans For The July 5th Releases

June 17, 2004 | Other
The Aloha/68 Special DVD releases will enjoy an initial booster launch £60,000 TV spend with commercials commencing 1st July on ITV during News AT Ten, Coronation Street, Emmerdale, Millionaire, and on GMTV. On Channel Five, News, Wife Swap, Graham Norton and on 5 during the News, Sports, and Family Affairs. Satellite channel advertising will traget Discovery, History, National Geographic, Fallmark, Fox FX, UK Gold, UK Style, Granada Plus and Performance.

The TV promoted album "King of Rock n Roll", featuring Elvis, Cliff, Buddy, Eddie, Chuck, Little Richard and Jerry Lee with enjoy a £150,000 TV spend, with a sales projection of 500,000 units, on GMTV, Des & Mel, Coronation Street, Heartbeat, Countdown, and UK Living, Disclovery, & History Channels. Across all five launch titles (Aloha/68 Special/Kings of Rock n Roll/That's All Right/Elvis at Sun) there will be advertising and PR activities in The Observer, Sunday Times, Guardian, Music Week, Young at Heart, Active Life, Mojo, Uncut, and Record Collector with special promotional activities in Saga Magazine, and on the Saga Radio Networks with the official Elvis Presley Fan Club of Great Britain.

There has been a lot of negative comment regarding the lack of promotion for these products in the UK, but this is not the case, and there is no point commencing promotion at this time until all products are available in store according to Todd Slaughter. The reason for releasing all five titles at one time (July 5th) is to enjoy a full-on blitz during the period known in the UK Media, as the "silly season" when hard news is generally thin on the ground, and at a time when advertising space is discounted by the broadcasters and in print.

Finally... Great news. Let's keep it coming... Bill Clinton is doing a book tour and he's a huge Elvis Fan.. Lets get him talking.. Lets use "If I Can Dream" as the summer Theme song and get it all over the networks, and the world.. With the state of the world today, this would be perfect.. They will trust Elvis over any political tactic.. Use the King, and he will help save this Planet... common sense to me...

This is fantastic news!!!! Its about time an Elvis release was promoted like this. I hope these releases do really well and will make up for the lack of tv promotion for Elvis -TTWII(SE) which could have got the same promotion which didnt and stopped any chance of an Elvis -On tour(SE) being made. The biggest mistake of TTWII(SE) was putting on TV in the US a day before the DVD was released. This is what the fans have been waiting for because we know exactly whats on it and now we are gonna get in all in fantastic quality. My Christmas has come early. Well done. Sean (UK) P.S. keep up the good work Todd!! Elvis would be so proud of you.
