Billboard Round-up

December 23, 2002 | Music
The annual tally comes as the recording industry steps up efforts to combat online piracy and retail counterfeiting, both of which continue to erode sales.

In all, the RIAA certified 134 multiplatinum releases, 121 platinum records and 257 gold releases (500,000 in sales). Two hits complications each sold more than 3 million units; the Rolling Stones' "Forty Licks" and Elvis Presley's "Elvis: 30 #1 Hits." And Presley's catalog moved another 11.5 million units for the year.
