Soon to be released is the latest production from Rainbow Records. This release will feature the complete performance of Elvis Presley in Augusta, Maine - recorded May 24, 1977.

The producers have been able to locate the original audience-recorded tape. Using 24bit audio transfer they achieved an optimum sound of this recording. We think that with our 6th release we can bring you the best sounding disc so far.
Although Elvis was clearly not in the best shape regarding his physical appearance his voice was strong and powerful as always. “Never Been To Spain” which unfortunately was only intoned or the performance of “You Gave Me A Mountain”, “Little Sister” and “My Way” prove that his spirit and feeling for many of his songs was still there.
The funny moment when Felton Jarvis was on stage during “If You Love Me” is pictured in the 20-pages booklet which is loaded with shots from the actual concert (we actually had a total of 150 great photos to choose from). We also included a scan of the ticket stub, a newspaper announcement for the concert and 2 different show reviews. All in all you will get a nearly perfect overview of what Elvis was able to deliver to his audience on May 24th, 1977.
For Augusta the “Elvis Presley Show” was a once in a lifetime experience. We hope that this CD will be – at least - a proof that “Elvis 77” was still pleasing his audiences.

Never Been To Maine and also released as "Move It In Augusta" on cdr. Not really a new concert,
and an average tour. Trying to get to you is just released. Do we need this? I don't think so.
"Using 24bit audio transfer" - ooooh wow, so now we will hear every little grain of tape hiss and frequency loss in all its glory then? :D But all jokes aside, I feel kinda pitty for the bootleggers nowadays, apparently the bottom of the barrel is scraped and empty now.
It is indeed hard to recommend Elvis shows from this time....but it belongs to the history of this man. We can´t say we ignore it.....and....this tour was definitely better than the two before...Elvis`voice was strong and he was in good spirits.....so the decision for this tour ....if you wanna bring a show from 1977.....is the right one...you can also pick the first one which wasn`t bad either....the decision for this very show is also correct cause it stands out in this tour as one of the better shows.....and....the sound is quite good..I know at least one good source.....
You're right Ciscoking! I had the chance to attend that particular show and unfortunately this was my very last one to attend (last one of 14 shows) in the NorthEastern part of USA. He was what he was at that time and most of all he was Elvis Aaron Presley. I would go back anytime to that period of my life if I only could.
So, let's see what we got here: We don't want these 1st generation tapes of concerts. We don't want sessions because who wants to listen to the same song over and over again. We don't want FTD because it does not release the stuff the fans want. We don't want Elvis in the 50s because smurf-like voices like on "My Happiness" isn't what we want to hear. We don't want Elvis in the 60s because his movies were rediculous. We don't want Elvis in the 70s because he was fat and sick. We don't want any more "Well well well"s. We don't want any studio-outtakes because they disappoint us, sounding very similar to the master in most cases. Many don't even want a "TTWII Complete Works" box these days. Seems like I'm on the best Anti-Elvis site of the net.
Santa Claus, I too am asking myself if this is not, in fact, in great fact, an Anti-Elvis site...
Can I just say, very quietly so as not to upset anyone, that I want concerts, studio outtakes from all years, and I want FTD. I appreciate them all! Sorry to be a rebel. Actually I'm not sorry at all. I enjoy all aspects of Elvis recorded works from whatever source.

Excellent post Santa Claus, but you forgot that we do not want new either no remixes or new productions/duets. So in short: We do not want anything old or new. What we want, I guess, is to believe in reincarnation...!

I almost stopped believing in Santa Claus! I'm glad I didn't. He sure makes a good point regarding the "whine" potential amongst some Elvis fans. On the other hand, many of the complaints voiced on this site and others carry a lot of merit. We should be able to complain. Why pray tell? Because we are more than fans. We are consumers. We buy the stuff they're trying to sell. Without us there would be no market for Elvis, period. So let it all hang out, baby! Make it known exactly how you feel. And remember, if you don't want it, the best complaint is to not buy it.
I really like the cover tho'... I'm wondering when Bruce Jackson will let us hear the soundboards he owns. I wish him a long prosper life, but c'mon, you know what I mean, I can't wait that long.
SANTA CLAUS, you're right! Most of the so called Elvis Fans are looking always for the hair in the soup. And if they can't find one, they will put one in. I love Elvis Presley in every period. But most of all I like the soundtracks and live concerts. Sure, not every concert was Elvis at his best. But who is always best? The Augusta show is very rare and what I've read produced best as can. That is what I like. Now and forever. Elvis will always be the king, no matter what. Thank you, thank you very much.

It seems to me there is a lot of griping on this site. But I still enjoy reading it. I buy it all. I'm allmost ELVIS POOR. I give Elvis credit for being HUMAM. None of us perform our jobs at 100%. And we dont have all the pressure that the WORLD'S GREATEST PERSONALITY had. I'm sure he would be glad to be alive and still be entertaining us. The record company and the bootleggers can only release what they have.Enjoy all you can.
people complain too much. you should all be happy anything is being released at all and that you can all get it. look at fans of ricky nelson whom i like very much you cant really find jack on him, same with many of the 50's performers

I think Santa's negative view says more about him (as far as he exists) than about the collection of fans over here. Of coure you can collect all the negative remarks... resulting in his post. On the other hand... if you pick up all positive comments, we love everything Elvis, even Queenie Wahine's Papaya and Old MacDonald, the duets and remixes.
There are some facts of History I’d rather not remember: (the holocaust, slavery, the dark days of inquisition, the left and right political abuses - communism and fascism-, etc). With Elvis career it's the same: some wooolyywoood movies and songs and the 1976/1977 concerts period with few exception like the 5 days tour of December 1976, simply I don’t remember it, just because I don't see or ear the Elvis I love and want, but a sad, sad parody of The King done by…himself!
In fact having the king in 1954/1958, The king in 1960/62, the King in How Great Thou Art, The King from 1969 to 1972, The Stax sessions, even some Jungle room songs, the majority of his concerts from 1969 to 1974, some 1975 concerts like the Vegas season from March and the Uniondale or Ashville gigs, the last 5 days tour from December 1976, I just can't ear the hoolyywoood songs or the 1976/1977 shows. It just doesn’t have any quality and it’s too depressing and sad for me to see Elvis Presley like that!

What we all here talking about? We are talking about Elvis, the entertainer. His mission was to make the people happy. And he has done a very fantastic work over the years. Rock'n Roll, Gospel, Blues, Country, Ballads, Christmas Songs and a lot of million sellers too. So let us all walk together in the same direction. With different opinions, that's ok. But with one statement to all others: Elvis was one of the greatest entertainers in the world. We all have to keep the legend go on and on and on ... and I'm sure: He never will be forgotten!
I was metaphorically speaking, please! Anyway the last months of Elvis life were a true holocaust, human and emotionally speaking, with obvious reflections in his musical legacy. But this is only my point of view, as valuable as anyone’s opinion.

So I told the class of 20 about 12 years old scholars about my mucical roots laid by EP. As I asked them, if they still knew Presley they all said: Yess! My first introduction to elvis in the aerly 70's was the movies. My eldest sister was the biggest fan in the house. elvis movies were always on Tv in the summer school holidays and I loved watching them, I still remember thinking how cool he looked in 'change of habit'. Its horses for courses. 'yoga is as yoga does' may not be for the serious music fan but its a fun song in a fun family film made at a time when i was a youngster having fun. maybe more films like that should be made now. i know i'd much prefer my young 10 nephew humming that tune then some of the ones I hear on the radio today!
Somehow i will make it without this release,now this is what i call a bootleg,but i know some of you enjoy these type of um releases so enjoy!

circleG, like you I enjoy the movies. When I was young I was shaken by his music. However the only way to see him way during mid-day movies. I loved it! It is easy going, no violence, fun and not harming. You are so right about the innocence of it all. Now-a-days I don't watch very often, but still derive pleasure out of watching them. There are so many aspects in the man and generally I like it every day, for the last 40 plus years. There are so many releases that I have to be choosy. This one is not high on my list, but no need to be negative. Interesting what PHESYER writes! And 14 times, wow!
