drghanem1: Multi-Track "Live" recordings do exist. Especially around this time period. The original single release of "American Trilogy" came from one of these shows (if memory serves me right). They were going to releasse an album titled "Standing Room Only", which was scrapped. So they did have the multi-track recorders running.

If its done right it will not have songs on the ftd book/ cd you mentioned, there should be no duplication with ftd's!

ther eone thing we should all wish for is no duplication of the tracks we just got one the writing for the king set. those songs although good wouldnt merit releasing again. for the sake of completness i would also love the remaining tracks from elvis spring tours that remain

According to The Complete Recording Sessions, the purpose of the recordings was taping a collection of new songs. Elvis wanted to record The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine Anymore by the Walker Brothers, Steamroller Blues, Summer Days and Brown Eyes by James Taylor, The Last Time I Saw Her Face by Gordon Lightfoot and Sunday Morning Coming Down by Kris Kristofferson. However, it wasn't possible to obtain publishing rights, and 'the tape machine was actually turned off every time Elvis sang Help Me Make It Through The Night.'

There were no complete shows recorded. As per Ernst's Recording Sessions book the following songs were taped: Little Sister / Get Back, See See Rider, Proud Mary, Never Been To Spain, You Gave Me A Mountain, A Big Hunk Of Love, It's Impossible, The Impossible Dream, An American Trilogy, It's Over, Love Me, All Shook Up, Teddt Bear / Don't Be Cruel, Hound Dog, Can't Help Falling In Love.

i cant wait to see the track listing on this release. though i do wish they would release more shows from 1971 id like to hear elvis sing the teddy bear/dont be cruel medley for the first time im very interested in how different it was compared to later shows. i have the impossible dream cd and i was dissapointed when i learned they omitted teddy bear/ dont be cruel from it after they said it was gonna be on there but i still love that cd i love snow bird and other songs on there. one thing i do not understand is whatever happened to him singing jailhouse rock or in the ghetto and kentucky rain after his 1969 and 1970 seasons. sure he sang jailhouse rock later on but it stunk compared to his 1968 and 1969 performances.

By leftovers you mean not good? i look forward to this,at least its multitrack recordings and not a dry sounding soundboard as with some of the previous releases from the vegas shows!

Well, now that we know it's from February 1972, it has to be Live, of course. We have previously heard live tracks from february 14-17, 1972, and most certainly the FTD's "An American Trilogy" will be a compilation of leftovers from these recorded dinner and midnight shows.

That´s what I thought, I knew I was right all along. Multitrack studio-recordings! C´mon guys, wake up! There´s no multitrack studio-recordings on this FTD. LIVE is the word. Who starts these rumours...???!!!
