Volume 5 in the "American Way" series has been released. This volume will be a mix of the (same) American Sound Studio sessions, some live tracks and many takes of "Goin' Home" (1968). The cover will be the "1968 version", but for those that liked the "1970 version" better: that one will be on the back, so you can turn the booklet and make your favourite the front. This is what Southern Comfort has to say about its next release:
"There was a time, not too long ago, when an import cd accompanied with a nice bonus photo booklet meant value for money. "Remastered from best possible tape source", was not just a bag of hot air... Nowdays, just about every import label burries you, the potential buyer, under an endless and often meaningless list of 'PR' rap. Southern Comfort doesn't need cheap promises to sell their product. We're the best. And we have 4 volumes to prove it. Volume 5 is on its way. We hope you will enjoy the results of our labour. The expected release date is early October."

For completists only. All that is essential for the Elvis fan are the complete masters of all his songs from the best possible source. Thats all I need. Outtakes and take after take of songs just dont excite me anymore. And 5 songs from a live show? Nice packaging though.

But if you're such a plain jane, bread and butter fan just into masters, why bother visiting an "Elvisnews" site,anyway?
There ain't a gonna be much more in the way of news about masters and you can check in two times to year to find out what's been put out on DSD sound or what have you, but c'mon, give the rest of a break. Enjoy your "History" box, "Ultimate Gospel," "Love, Elvis" and "Golden Records" Volumes 3 and 4 in DSD sound ! The rest of us are lapping up this monumental "American Way" series! I can't believe there's any complaint about them.
These Memphis '69 sides arguably Elvis' best ever session (many would say this anyway) and now you're basically *bored* when someone offers you a chance to be a fly on the wall .., plus a bonus related-session or two? Come on! It's time to get a new hobby. The rest of us know an import "event" when we see one, and when baggy pants/ Tallhair's involved, you know it's gotta be good.

Im guessing people vistit this site because there fans of Elvis,thats good enough reason isnt it? hect im just glad that for the most part this board has sensiable people on it,you can't say that for every site(wink) and whos in with this product does not mean a thing to me,i enjoy some of the concerts released and some of the outtakes but i also am not interested in hearing entire sessions,i have praised the artwork and overall presentation but im not going to feel guilty for not wanting everything,and by the way who has complaned about this release? just because were all not lapping up everything were told is essential doesnt make us complainers,jeesh ive praised the artwork a million times but am not going to be told what is essential,i did the june sessions more,what there not essential? think i care? (soory my sarcasim go away from me) have fun gang! thats what its all about right?

Mature, I hear your sentiments but no one is trying to make anyone feel guilty. You may in fact find you're missing out on the party, but that's your call. If someone has "Elvis fatigue," that's their business but the reality is a true hard-core fan will lap up each and every "AMERICAN WAY" release just on the reviews alone. Unless one thinks the best Elvis imports just grow on trees by themselves, don't denigrate what are essentially the "holy grail" of the hobby. There are true legends of the Elvis world involved in these releases and to say otherwise is either an insult of sorts or just ignorant of the fact. It does matter that releases are being done with such care and we need to celebrate it. Not into it? Not into Elvis "that much"? Fine. But at least those who are most into the King's legacy will know what the "must-have" releases are.
