I'm constantly scratching my head when it comes to Sony/Elvis anniversaries and vinyl. Is Sony possibly the wrong label to handle the Elvis catalogue, I recall BMG doing so much better. Novelty releases like this by Ernst and Roger are fine though I do wonder why the lack of masters on vinyl. Most if these records are mixed at Abbey Road and sound fantastic so imagine how good the masters would sound. Stores like HMV were calling for official vinyl releases I remember a sales rep telling me but Sony leaves these for FridayMusic to release and frankly they suffer from bad mastering in places.
Ah well, it is what it is but on the subject of Elvis at American and Sony I'm hoping for a rerelease of 1987s The Memphis Record some day.

But that is the problem, Martin, the Beatles can release a perfect 50th anniversary edition with unreleased material and the Elvis folks can´t. ( You can´t compare a world wide release like the Beatles did with a ftd release. ) They missed it. Again.

What Gladyslove and Bob Finkel seem to have overlooked is that this is a Record Store Day release thus not a lost opportunity for releasing a multi-volume whatever. A five-cd set dealing with those sessions is coming soon which is enough to satisfy most fans' needs, even though it won't contain every outtake (who listens to those more than once of twice anyway?), false start or coffee break. The Abbey Road release mentioned below doesn't contain every outtake either, only two discs, roughly ninety minutes in total.

You are so right Gladyslove. Sony only reacts instead of acting. There is much more done in this regarding with other artists. And why? Because there is a plan and because marketing is more concerned with these other artists. The album 'From Elvis In Memphis' is not just any Elvis album, one of his best. And once again they Sony missed a chance. What a shame. It is really frustrating.

They, sony, missed the chance for a 50th anniversary edition of the Elvis in Memphis album. The Beatles showed with a release of Abbey road what is possible ( and two other previous releases in 2017 and 2018 ). Why can´t sony release something like the Beatles did ??? Elvis is a dead product. They should overthink their promotion for their future.
