7th Anniversary Sirius Radio

July 01, 2011 | Other

This weekend, SiriusXM'S Elvis Radio will celebrate its 7th anniversary! The satellite radio station, which broadcasts live from Graceland in Memphis, will mark the milestone with a series of historical music specials and celebrity guests. Included will be NASCAR’s Tony Stewart and Mike Helton, Larry Gatlin and the Gatlin Brothers, Dave Marsh, and SiriusXM’s Hillbilly Jim from Outlaw Country.

In addition, Elvis Radio will devote Thursday, June 30th to an incredible evening of George Klein music programs with Humes High School Elvis partner Red West, rocker Suzi Quatro, and the Memphis Mafia starting at 8:00 p.m. EST.

Here's the holiday weekend lineup for SiriusXM's Elvis Radio:

Elvis Live In Concert: Fort Worth July 3, 1976
Fri 7/1 8:00 pm ET
This Texas-style July 4th celebration was originally released as part of the FTD double CD historical book Rocking Across Texas. Concert highlights include “Jailhouse Rock,” “Polk Salad Annie,” and Elvis’ patriotic concert showstopper, “America The Beautiful.” (1 hr)
Rebroadcast: Sun 7/3 12:00 am ET; Sun 7/3 10:00 pm ET; Wed 7/6 6:00 am ET

The Best Of Elvis Radio: Guest DJ Dave Marsh
Fri 7/1 9:00 pm ET
Dave Marsh shares his incredible personal story from August 16, 1977, and presents an historic perspective on the musicology of Elvis’ recording career. (1 hr)

The Best Of Elvis Radio: Guest DJ Hillbilly Jim
Fri 7/1 10:00 pm ET
Jim may be the “biggest” Elvis fan out there! Standing 6’8” and weighing in at 279, don’t mess with Jim and don’t mess with the King! This is a very cool guest DJ show when Jim just showed up at the Elvis Radio Graceland studio, and wanted to play his favorite Elvis records starting with his native home state classic, “Kentucky Rain!” (1 hr)

Saturday Special: Red White Hot & Blue Celebrating Freedom In Hawaii
Sat 7/2 12:00 pm ET
Elvis and the Colonel loved Hawaii for a number of reasons: The Colonel served there in the U.S. Army, and Elvis performed in Honolulu in 1961 to push the USS Arizona WW2 Memorial fundraising budget for a Pearl Harbor Naval monument. Hear concert music from this incredible rare show as well as Elvis’ concert recordings from Aloha. (1 hr)

Soundtrack Saturday Night: Bill Rock Memories
Sat 7/2 7:00 pm ET
Bill Rock celebrates the July 4th weekend and the seventh anniversary of the Elvis Radio launch with a blockbuster TCB double header: Hear Bill’s Memorial Day Special, plus the Red White & Blue Salute to America’s Vets, which follows his three-hour look back at the history of SiriusXM’s Elvis Radio, born July 2, 2004! (5 hrs)
Rebroadcast: Tues 7/5 10:00 pm ET; Thurs 7/7 2:00 am ET
