30 CD Collector's Box?

November 13, 2007 | Music
Rumors about a 30 CD box box set first popped up early this year, but here is the alleged 30 CD box which should be due from Sony. This set could be a limited edition (1000 copies) white leather "loud speaker" box with 30 CDs. More details when available.

cripes who can afford that these days? 30 cds is good but only together like that? why not have it all sold invidually for poor people like myself?

Mofaca, They will sell individually right after they sell the 1000 limited editions to 1000 suckers with unlimited funds. Heh heh.

I am interested, but I'm not using my next months mortgage payment to buy it.

Collector's boxes are for people who collect boxes.

I don't think the last box with 50 of the original albums sold very well (at least not here in Sweden) because I have seen them being sold individually in the stores (they have the original cover but with a nunber from 1 to 50 added).

No wonder, must have cost a fortune and an arm! For those that don't have any of the classic FTD's this would be a good deal, if it was all records that Elvis gave out during his lifetime (50 or so, not 30 and some albums joined together on one cd), were very affordable AND with DSD sound which the FTD's don't have. As it is now - completely useless

Martin DJ that was so funny. Original albums do need some pushing though. It would be great to see more FTD's available in shops instead of all these horrible comiplations. I know they're aimed at the casual buyer and FTD's aren't cheap but maybe something needs to be done about that.

You are right, FTDs are not cheep and on top of it all you have to pay postage, a double insult. and in all the stores its the same repeated BMG (buy my Garbage) material. the FTDs should be in stores. However they have cut out the middle man and keeping there profits high, after all the material was sitting in the Junk tank for 40 or so years and the material cost nothing so everything is a profit from the get go. except the art work and even tht is just recycled photos and the Elvis fan continues to have his pocket picked because he cant get enough of elvis. If the Colonel were still alive today he would bed having a field day counting his coins on his way to the gameing table in Las Vegas or Reno, after all he couldnt go to monte Carlo because he was an illegal alien. Imagine all this money being made from a boy and his family that grew up in a shack.

I have to disagree with Palle that the FTD's do not have DSD. I think that the last few years worth do, just like the in store Elvis CD's. I believe it is part of the mastering process and not all of the regular releases mention it anymore either. The FTD Elvis Presley (1st album) does state DSD on the back cover but I could not find any others that do. When they say,"Digtal transfers by Andreas Meyer, Sony Studios, N.Y." on the packaging, I think that is a pretty could clue. If they don't have DSD, they sure sound as if they do!!! And why would they do it some of the time and not others?
