Words & Music: Jimmy Kennedy Alex Alstone

Write to me from Naples
Tell me all that's new
I loved you in Naples
More than words can say
Call me cara mia
Tell me all that's new
Write to me from Naples
Keep my heart with you

I can hear a mandolino
Softly it cries
While I raise a glass of vino
Praising your eyes
Since we said a rivederci
My poor heart cries
Just for a letter from you

Write to me from Naples
Tell me all that's new
Write to me from Naples
Keep my heart with you
Please come back, come back to me

Dean Martin made a great version of this song and this private recording actually stays on course without too much playing around. Nice harmonies, with voices to the fore makes this a cut above most private recordings.

The Dean Martin version sounds good. The sound quality on Presley's version is just too bad for real enjoyment.

This is such a beautiful song and it's obvious that Dean Martin has the best rendition of it by far. Elvis' home recorded performance of this gem was very good, but it doesn't have good sound quality. Elvis should've recorded this gem professionally and properly in the studio instead.

I'm a big Dino fan so it was good when I heard Elvis had recorded this song, albeit a home recording. The quality isn't too good but I enjoyed the listen

My two favorites, Elvis and Dino! It is fun to compare the songs they both sang. Elvis wins on "Gentle On My Mind", but Dino wins on "Welcome To My World (although I like Elvis' version too). "Release Me", "I'll Hold You In My Heart", "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry", "For The Good Times", "Fools Rush In", "Blue Moon", "Green, Green Grass Of Home" and six Christmas songs are the songs that come to my mind that both artists covered. Of the nine secular songs, I give Elvis the edge 7-2. On the Christmas songs, I give Elvis the edge again 4-2, but it is close on several of the songs. On this one, I wish Elvis had given us a professional recording for comparison.

Someone with some serious technical skill ought to create a Dean Martin/Elvis duet on this one. Use Dino's music track, obviously. I doubt anyone could isolate Elvis' vocal enough to make it really work though. I love Dean's version and if Elvis had done a real studio version of this, I'm sure his would have been great too--though I believe Dean Martin really owns this one. Still, it is great to hear Elvis enjoying the song
