Merry Christmas Baby

Words & Music: L. Baxter/ J. Moore
Merry, merry Christmas baby
Sure did treat me nice
I said merry Christmas baby
Sure did treat me nice
Gave me a diamond ring for Christmas
Now I'm living in paradise
Well I'm feeling might fine
Got good music on my radio
Well, I'm feeling might fine
Got good music on my radio
Well, I want to kiss you baby
While you're standing beneath the mistletoe
I said, merry, merry, merry, merry Christmas baby
You sure did treat me nice
Yes, you did, yes, you did
Yes, you did, yes, you did
I said merry, merry Christmas baby
Sure did treat me nice
Gave me diamond ring for Christmas
Now I'm puttin' it through Al's mike
Recorded: 1971/05/15, first released on Elvis Sings the Wonderful World of Christmas

Not your traditional Christmas song. But a great informal jam song that Elvis nails. This is one Christmas song that I can listen to all year.
This is such a magnificent, fun, catchy, electrifying, unique and bluesy Christmas song and Elvis' rendition of it is spectacular. I've never skipped it. Elvis' recording of it is a true masterpiece and should definitely be much better known than it actually is.
A masterpiece, the best recording of 1971. Five stars.
A great bluesy song from Elvis. I prefer the version from the "Reconsider Baby" LP/CD without the Eddie Hinton overdub. I wish Elvis had recorded more like this.
How GREAT this tune is in Presley's hands? A Master Piece! Elvis was such a great, great Blues singer. I wonder if he really knew how immense he was singing the Blues!
A perfect blues. James Burton overdubbed some great blues licks. This could've inspired the making of a blues album, but sadly enough ,didn't.
A lazy low down dirty bluesy rendition of a Christmas song, second only to Santa Claus is Back in Town in
this genre - absolutely fantastic and one of the longest of his song releases
What a shock it was hearing this track for the first time. Side B of the WWOC album starts off with beautiful ballads that range from bluesy to sad. All are sung perfectly; but one had to wonder where was the Elvis the bluesy rocker that gave us Christmas songs like "Santa Claus Is Back In Town". Then comes this masterpiece that proves that no-one was the equal of Elvis in popular music. A gritty, laid back blues number that like "Steamroller Blues" a couple of years later builds to an incredible climax. The note he hits towards the end on the words "I Said Merry Christmas Baby" are as powerful as any notes ever recorded.
One of the most perfect Elvis performances ever recorded. Amazing. *****
