... When you say I Love You
It's a sin to tell a lie
Millions of hearts have been broken
Just because these words were spoken
Like you (?)

So be sure it is true when you say I Love You
It's a sin to tell a lie

Be sure it's truly when I tell you I love you honey
Because when you ... know it's a sin to tell a bloody lie
You know a whole lots of folk's hearts were already been broken
Just over a whole lotta foolish words that have been spoken

I love you, yes I do, I love you
If you break my heart I'll (shit)
So be sure it's true when you say I love you
It's a sin to tell a lie
Recorded: 1966

The orchestra in the backround is way too much, the sound quality is poor, the whole thing is schmaltzy as hell . .. i suspect that i wouldn't even like it if it would have been a proper recording in better sound quality, not a home recording, but who knows. No vote from me, because i think that all these home recordings etc shouldn't be mentioned here. At least i don't count them as a part of elvis catalogue.

I have just stumbled upon a remix of this song on YouTube where a guy has cleverly combined Patti Page and Elvis in what is to me a quite engaging track.. Rock fans and others will not appreciate it but I like it a lot..

I think of this as one of Elvis' most enjoyable home recorded performances to listen to by far. I've never skipped it and I like the added orchestral backing too. This 1966 home recorded performance was a truly great find. This home recorded performance got its first official release on the FTD CD "In A Private Moment" from 2000. Elvis proved yet again during this home recorded performance that he was a genius at humor.

Yes I know it is a private recording not meant for release but I just love the whole feel of it. I like the added orchestral backing, the Ink Spots feel, with tongue in cheek comments and vocal delivery. Great entertainment from start to finish.
