Here Comes Santa Claus (Right Down Santa Claus Lane)

Rating:
4.5 / 5

Words & Music: Gene Autrey Oakley Haldeman

Here comes Santa Claus, here comes Santa Claus,
Right down Santa Claus Lane.

Vixen, Blitzen, all his reindeer
Pulling on the reins.
Bells are ringing, children singing,
All is merry and bright.
Hang your stockings and say a prayer,
'Cause Santa Claus comes tonight.

Here comes Santa Claus, here comes Santa Claus,
Riding down Santa Claus Lane.

He's got a bag that's filled with toys
For boys and girls again.
Hear those sleigh bells jingle jangle,
What a beautiful sight.
Jump in bed and cover up your head,
Because Santa Claus comes tonight.

Here comes Santa Claus, here comes Santa Claus,
Riding down Santa Claus Lane.

He doesn't care if you're a rich or poor boy,
He loves you just the same.
Santa knows that we're God's children,
That makes everything right.
Fill your hears with Christmas cheer,
'Cause Santa Claus comes tonight.

Well, here comes Santa Claus, here comes Santa Claus,
Riding down Santa Claus Lane.

He'll come around when the chimes ring out
It's Christmas morn again.
Peace on Earth will come to all
If we just follow the light
Let's give thanks to the Lord above,
'Cause Santa Claus comes tonight.

'Cause Santa Claus comes tonight.

How can anyone not like this? Best version ever. Makes me feel like a kid again.

Not quite the equal of the other two Santa Claus tunes from his first Christmas album; but still a wonderful, enjoyable track that Elvis sings with impeccable style.

A fun holiday treat ! I also love the new "duets" version. However, my favorite Santa songs are, "Santa, bring my baby back to me" and "Santa Claus is back in town" (why aren't these played more on the radio, at Christmas time?)

Love it! Brings back so many memories of growing up in 1950s Lancashire.

I heard this song a lot this past Christmas, it was even used in a TV commercial. A feel good Christmas song, Elvis seemed to have enjoyed singing it.

An absolutely fantastic recording which to me represented Elvis as seen by the public with its phrasing and vocal gymnastics. I also play this throughout the year.

His voice almost sound as smooth as it did in 1960. Fun, joy, whatever.

Classic, and not just this one, Christmas without listening to Elvis Christmas recordings would not be Christmas. My first Elvis Lp back in 1962, Elvis' Christmas Album.

Elvis had/has the 2nd best version of this song. Gene Autry not only wrote it, but recorded the best version ever... available on the CD -- "Gene Autry sings Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer & other Christmas favorites".
