Have I Told You Lately that I Love You?

Words & Music: Scott Wiseman
Have I told you lately that I love you?
Could I tell you once again somehow?
Have I told with all my heart and soul how I adore you?
Well darling I’m telling you now
Have I told you lately when I’m sleeping
Every dream I dream is you somehow?
Have I told you why the nights are long
When you're not with me?
Well darling I’m telling you now
My heart would break in two if I should lose you
I’m no good without you anyhow
And have I told you lately that I love you
Well darling I’m telling you now
My heart would break in two if I should lose you
I’m no good without you anyhow
And have I told you lately that I love you
Well darling I’m telling you now
Recorded: 1957/01/19, first released on Loving You
Reactions
Never been totally switched on by this track, as it just seems to lack the Presley 50's magic. Not a patch on I Need You So from the extra songs on the Loving You Album.
Wonderful sort of shuffling, half ballad, half pop song. A hidden gem on the :Loving You" album which is great from beginning to end.
One of my all time favorites by Elvis! Ricky Nelson's version can't hold a candle to Mr. Presley's version.
Is that Elvis again slapping the back of his guitar? Must be. Great song, despite the loud percussion.
This is such a beautiful ballad and Elvis' rendition of it should be way better known than it actually is.
don"t care much for this song. i prefer "When my blue moon turns to gold again" or "Ready teddy". Still has a nice vocal though. i love Elvis anyhow. rock on.
People love this song and many artists sang it. I am not crazy about it by anyone but if I had to choose, Elvis did it best.
Didn't care for it back in the day and don't like it any better now. Don't like Ricky Nelson's version, either. I'd rather listen to "Old Shep."
I like it a lot but not as much as I did back in the day.
When Ricky Nelson had a hit with this in '57, RCA took out advertisements for this song (it was the lead song on an extenended play) claiming Elvis' was the "big" version. Elvis easily outshines Nelson on this song (Elvis just had a lot more vocal talent than Ricky did) and this is definitely one of the highlights from side B of the LP "Loving You".
I love when he did songs like this. Its definately a "hidden gem". Other over looked gems "One sided Love affair", "I'm gonna sit right down and cry over you" and so many more. Elvis at his best ! However I didn't like him doing songs like "True Love" and "Old Shep".
an alltime favourite. hardly heard. a hidden gem. too bad he didn't do that one later in his shows.
Elvis revived many country classics in the 50sand 60s and this one is among the best of them, a great song with Elvis in top form
