June 26, 1954: Elvis had not given up the hope of recording for Sun Records and this day his prayers were answered. He got a phone call from Marion Keisker to try out the song Without You, but he failed to come up with a successful version of the song.
June 26, 1955: Elvis performed at the Slavonian Lodge, Biloxi, Mississippi, where he, Scotty and Bill opened the new club with air-condition to a sellout crowd.
June 26, 1956: Elvis performed at the Coliseum, Charlotte, North Carolina.
June 26, 1957: Very impatient Elvis got off the train in Lafayette, rented a car and drove the rest of the way to Memphis. This would be his first night in his new home.
June 26, 1965: Elvis gave the Colonel an electric golf cart for his birthday.
June 26, 1966: Elvis flew back to Los Angeles with Red West, Jerry Schilling, Marty Lacker and Charlie Hodge, because his bus needed a new engine. The others had left a few days earlier, driving Elvis' new black Cadillac Eldorado convertible and several other cars plus a trailer full of motorcycles.
June 26, 1967: Principal photography on Speedway began.
June 26, 1968: There was a rehearsal of the entire Burbank show between 10.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m. On the set Elvis sung a birthday song for the Colonel on the melody of "It Hurts Me".
June 26, 1973: Elvis performed at the Civic Center Arena, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
June 26, 1974: Elvis performed at the Fair and Expo Center's Freedom Hall, Louisville, Kentucky.
June 26, 1976: Elvis performed at the Civic Center, Providence, Rhode Island at 2.30 and 8.30 p.m.
June 26, 1977: Elvis performed at the Market Square Arena, Indianapolis, Indiana. After a very good show Elvis and Ginger returned to Memphis.

It marks the 29th anniversary of Elvis' final live concert. It took place in front of a screaming, sold-out audience at the Market Sqaure Arena in Indianapolis, Indiana. In her review the following day, newspaper journalist Rita Rose said:

"Just about everything he did created mass hysteria...During C.C. Rider, flashbulbs popped wildly and by the time he had segued into Amen, he had everyone clapping in unison...Toward the end of the show he mesmerised the crowd with Hurt....Then, for the final time, he sang Can't Help Falling In Love. Even as the music faded, he wouldn't leave the stage. He walked back and forth shaking his head in disbelief at the roar as more than 18,000 fans stomped and cheered."
June 26, 1979: On this day in 1979, Vernon Presley, Elvis' father, died.
