Elvis wrote a check for $500 toward the purchase of a house for himself and his parents at 1034 Audubon Drive, a well-to-do neighborhood east of downtown Memphis. Later he flew to Shreveport with his cousin Gene Smith, where he performed at the Louisiana Hayride, Municipal Auditorium, Shreveport.

Shooting began in New Orleans' French Quarter. The film company stayed in New Orleans until March 11.

Elvis traveled to Munich with Red and Lamar to visit Vera Tschechowa, a 18 year old actress whom Elvis met in January while doing publicity shots for the March of Dimes. In the evening they went to dinner with various friends of Vera and later to the Moulin Rouge, a striptease club.

Elvis arrived in New Jersey at 7.42 a.m. in the middle of a snow storm. The army held another big press conference with a welcoming party that included the Colonel, Nancy Sinatra and lots of RCA representatives.

There were some complaints about Elvis' continuing delays and Elvis was informed that he was expected without fail at United Artists on Monday, March 6.
Meanwhile on the ranch Elvis kept on spending money, buying a Ford pickup, A Ranger and 11 Rancheros as well as another mobile home.

Elvis and Priscilla flew to Palm Springs to stay for 2 weeks at their rented Camino del Norte home, while looking for a house to buy.

Accompanied by the Carpenters as well as Ricky Stanley and Charlie Hodge, Elvis flew home to Memphis.

Elvis performed at the Astrodome, Houston, Texas at 2.00 and 7.00 p.m. Towards the end of Elvis' performance of "Fever", the Colonel appeared on stage, riding a small donkey led by Vernon Presley. As Elvis went into "Let Me Be There", Vernon mounted the donkey and the Colonel slapped it and led it off stage.
