My Waterpistol Fight With Elvis!

March 29, 2015 | People

It's now 40 years ago that bass-player Duke Bardwell performed his last show with Elvis. This was at the Las Vegas Hilton on April 1st, 1975. It was April Fool's Day, and the King was in a partying mood. He performed a wild, crazy show with many fun moments. At one point, his manager Colonel Parker came on the stage wearing a Santa Claus outfit, together with Elvis' dog Get-Low. Elvis joked with the band and with the audience, and even sang a hilarious "The Mickey Mouse Club Song"!

The most remarkable moment of the night was his "duel" with Bardwell. Their relationship had had its fair share of highs and lows in the past 15 months. The 30-year old bass-player from Baton Rouge, Louisiana would sometimes get upset whenever Elvis introduced him in a belittling manner. At that final show, Duke had a chance to take his revenge, and he took it! Listen to Duke's own unique account, recorded only yesterday, in this new YouTube video.

Duke will be touring Europe in May '15 as part of "An Evening with Elvis' Friends and Original Musicians". For details, please visit: www.elvisnews.dk

Is it an improvement in sound quality comparing with the Boxcar set 'Showroom Internationale'? Or not really...

Unlikely to be any significant difference in sound but the packaging alone makes these GRM releases great to own.

Glad that they did not use the 'Kicking Butt reference'. There is already so much agression in this world. Heal the World, just like Michael Jackson sang, who was famous for marrying Lisa Marie and I believe he made some songs as well. But that is not the point, the fact is that we should have that Tender Feeling and Let's be Friends! Heal the World!!..

How does the sound on this CD compare with the sound on the "SHOWROOM INTERNATIONALE" version? Can anyone tell me? Thanks for any help on this.

I also wonder how the sound is compared to "SHOWROOM INTERNATIONALE" released 3-4 years ago? That one was much better than old Baxter release. This short "review" is pretty much worthless.........
