Elvis Presley is still the King! The Elvis' iconic "Eyelet Jumpsuit" and Cape from his 1972 Madison Square Garden performances in New York sold for US$1,012,500 with Kruse GWS Auctions reporting it as a world record price.

The ensemble, designed by Bill Belew, became one of the most-photographed and iconic costumes of Elvis’ career. It was at Elvis' first Madison Square Garden performce that he wore it for the first time - looking like "A Prince From Another Planet". The eyelet jumpsuit and cape has been in a private collection for more than 30 years prior to it going to auction.

Elvis performed four sold-out concerts at Madison Square Garden, the only New York City arena shows of his career.

Other Elvis memorabilia also was a hit at the weekend auctions. Highlights include an Elvis Presley Jar of Hair with extensive documentation, sold for $72,500; Elvis Presley’s racing helmet from the film Viva Las Vegas, sold for $23,750; the Elvis Presley tuxedo tailcoat from the film Frankie & Johnny sold for $75,000; Elvis personal and stage-worn boots sold for $28,750; Elvis Presley’s ’68 Comeback Special Sheet Music sold for $15,000; Elvis Presley’s Schick electric razor sold for $3,000; and an Elvis Presley Custom Eagle Belt made by Mike McGregor sold for $25,000.

“We are thrilled to have hosted such an exciting auction this weekend where fans and collectors from around the globe bid on extraordinary memorabilia from the life and career of Elvis Presley,” said Brigitte Kruse, rounder and lead auctioneer of Kruse GWS Auctions “The outstanding sale of his iconic 1972 Madison Square Garden eyelet jumpsuit and cape represents not only a world record price, but is a true testament to the legendary reverence and love people still feel for him.”

My opinion ? Well what can we say on this ! It is a pity that such a thing happens. How can Graceland Enterprise or Priscilla Wagner or Lisa Marie Presley can accept that this kind of "not taking care of Elvis" ? Things having belonged to that one of a kind forever and ever person, great human being, generous at the highest point, should have remained at Elvis complex with all the other jumpsuits or whatever having been Elvis' property. Is "Graceland" goinf on bankruptcy or what ? This is incredible, unacceptable and unfair to Elvis himself. This is my opinion and more ! What a mess !

My opinion ? Well what can we say on this ! It is a pity that such a kind of thing happens. How can "Graceland Enterprise" or Priscilla Wagner or Lisa Marie Presley dare to accept that this kind of "not taking care of business" action occurs ? Things having belonged to that one of a kind forever and ever person, that great human being, that more than generous person at the highest point, should have remained at "Elvis complex" (across "Graceland" mansion) with all the other jumpsuits or whatever having belonged to Elvis himself. Will "Graceland" be going on bankruptcy or what ? They recently have invested around 300$ millions in the new "Elvis complex" plus the "Guest House Hotel" and if it is not "Elvis Enterprise" or Priscilla or Lisa Marie or whoever's fault, it is somebody's fault, isnt'it ? Such decisions come from someone, somewhere ! This is incredible, unacceptable and unfair to Elvis himself. This is my opinion and more ! What a mess ! "Inherit the wind" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can people please calm down, in here and in any other forums, this suit has not been at Graceland for years, for all we know Elvis gave it away himself like he did with several other jumpsuits. We all appreciate and loves Elvis generosity, he also said to several of those who got expensive presents from him. "It might be an expensive gift but i want to give it to you, and someday it might be of help to you". Don't scream at EPE, Priscilla or Lisa Marie everytime something special comes up for sale, most likely Elvis gave it away himself.
