I have to say how sick I am of the negative style to the reports on ElvisNews lately. Is the point of such a website not to just report the news and let it's members discuss? There's too much bias when the owners don't like something. I hate to join the site, just to post a negative comment but I've been visiting this site since the start and it just really disappoints me. I appreciate everyone has opinions and that's 100% fine, it's what I like about the website. But the site itself should be impartial, unless of course it's a review. A couple of weeks ago there was something about vomit in an article, or something on those lines. And this 'article' takes the cake!! no real title?? and the actual article ...'THAT CD with the..." I come here to read the opinions of the members. If one of the other Elvis news sites gave a discussion feature I doubt I'd ever come back to this site. Sorry to be negative, I don't doubt this comment will be deleted soon.

elvisfanuk Totally agree with u on everything Please Elvis news please be impartial WE should all be celebrating this time I be just seen the news reports from Paris on the terrorist attacks My sympathies are with the relatives and friends of people lost Our hearts are with u France

Totally agree with you moseleyman and elvisfanuk -One should be over the moon as an Elvis follower with this news 38 years after his passing however this pales in comparison with the atrocities that have happened in France which will impact the Western world for many years in so many different ways.

Sometimes it feels like the site owners are trying to discourage people from visiting the site. I am sure many fans are already looking elsewhere to get the news...
Lex wrote on November 14, 2015
Nope, I just dislike this CD very much. Now the good news: visits haven't been so high for a long time. So I might express my opinion in the news more often :D. This particular one is just as it is, without opinion btw, everybody knows which CD we're talking about, don't they? Oh and elvisfanuk: Every man’s censure is first moduled in his own nature. We never ever removed a reaction because we did not agree with the content. You need an "essential" English fanclub president for that. Anyway, don't get me wrong, you can buy whatever number of this CD to keep it at #1, preferable through the links above.

I am in total agreement with the below comments. Lex, not sure why you are so negative towards this album, each to their own I guess. Indeed this website is all about views and in mine this site wrote the album off before even a note was probably recorded. I remember when " If I Can Dream" was announced on this site, the article was entitled " If I Can Puke".Your tone is, in my opinion, extremely childish. If this site/you are so against the album then why are there links to external sites offering fans to purchase it? Just out of interest do you receive a commission for every purchase made from one of these links?

There is no doubt, this release is the best thing to happen in the Elvis world in years. Just look at all the chart action his others releases are getting.

I'm glad that this cd has reached the #1 position on several charts outside the U.S., however there are some hindering factors to be considered for anyone that thinks this cd has a chance to reach #1 on the Billboard 200 chart . . . 1. Royal Philharmonic Orchestra is London-based, and therefore the good people of England (and all throughout the U.K.) are naturally going to be more interested and attracted to this project than the masses in the United States... And not to mention that there are many, many very loyal Elvis fans in the U.K. (with one of the best fan clubs in the world). 2. The population of the U.S. is indeed over 300 million, but along with that comes much more competition in the music industry. Americans are mostly focused on the current pop & country music stars of today. 3. I haven't seen any television commercials for this cd here in the U.S., but from what I've read & seen on different Elvis websites there have been television commercials in Australia and in the U.K. for it. How a product is marketed usually always determines how well it sells. This "new" Elvis cd will probably sell steadily in the U.S. between now and Christmas, but I really don't expect it to reach #1. I'll actually be very shocked (yet pleasantly surprised) if it reaches the Top-10 on the Billboard 200 chart. The competition is fierce.

1 Again - sounds like 'for ol' time sakes'. And that is something I like. (The opening statement of this article of course not.) MemphisFan, I met some Elvis fans last week who had not heard about this CD. So you are quite rigt about the promotion, or rather the lack of promotion. Not only in the USA. Anyway it is something new and obviously THAT ALONE makes that we are feeling the urge to respond. Most of the other news is basically more of the same.

About the discussion of Lex opinions: If Lex lets everyone give their own opinion why wouldn’t he be allowed to give their own? For the the richness of this site is exactly this: we can talk, comment and criticize about Elvis music and life, and we get to see how different we are but, on the other hand how much we love The King of Music. So Lex, please just keep giving your opinion as everybody else does in this site. About the Album: It is not my cup of tea. Just as some soundtrack are not my cup of tea. And probably just like gospel music is not someone else cup of tea, just like the 50’s 60’s or the 70’s are not especially great for others. In short Elvis: ad such a prolific career with so many type of music that is difficult to like, just the same, all of those types. And that’s what makes Elvis so big, so GREAT. There are some versions that I like, others that I don’t, at all, but I bought the album and I’m very glad it is number one, and I’ll give it as a present in this Christmas. TCB to all of you
Gorse wrote on November 16, 2015
A fair and constructive comment Pedro. Me personally, as well documented here thinks the album is fantastic but I also like every part of his career, (with perhaps a total indifference to about 10 -15 % of his 60's film songs ) as I am beguiled by the voice with all its textures. I am somewhat astonished by so many supposed Elvis zealots who have given this the thumbs down as I like to think I can usually predict overall reactions in our community to new Elvis output..
Lex wrote on November 16, 2015
Sorry I have to wake you up, Gorse. There won't be new Elvis output. Maybe, when we're very lucky, they might find something somewhere. I do think they scraped the barrel completely by now. Release like this have *nothing*, I repeat, *nothing* to do with Elvis. It's just some money makers altering (in general) great recordings and in my not so humble opinion completely ruined them.
Gorse wrote on November 16, 2015
I do believe Lex that you are being a naughty rascal - I don't know what has got into you lately. This hot-potch release has sure fooled a lot of people, even the less committed according to comments on Amazon, but not you my fine Lex - so I congratulate you on not being taking for a ride like this old fool. I shall now gracefully retreat with my tail between my legs :-0

Gorse, you sound almost exactly like me... I too love every part of his career minus a couple of films songs from 65-66.... 'beguiled by his voice'... beautifully put.

after many listens i do like some arrangement and many have 30-40 second orchestral intros to the main song now... some songs i dislike on the CD others seem to work or are 'boosted' "UP" both 'Bridge'+ 'Trilogy' have good use of bass guitar licks at the right moments that actually do give the songs more DEPTH than b4, however i prefer the versions of 'Bridge' that contain the lyric 'when darkness falls' instead of 'when darkness comes'. Steamroller certainly isn't Elvis's best recorded version but boosted up by a ROCKED OUT arrangement.Strangely enough Burning Love seems to work with this 'nee' arrangement!~ overall a very listenable CD and whether you like or dislike Pricilla a SUCCESS!~

Amazon.com (United States/Canada) reviewers update... Positive reviews = 150 Critical reviews = 12 (Four of those twelve gave a 3-star rating) Here are some of the so-called critical comments -- "The first time I listened to this I thought it was mostly a fail, but repeated play has me appreciating the effort much more." . . . . "Pretty upset the case was cracked, but thank goodness the cd was not." . . . . "Worth getting, but a mixed bag in my opinion, though Michael Bublé really showed respect for the song and Elvis with his duet." . . . . "It is always nice to hear Elvis, but I was expecting the orchestra to be more exciting." Amazon.co.uk (United Kingdom) reviewers update... New U.S. Billboard chart updates: "If I Can Dream" is #1 again on the Billboard Classical chart. "If I Can Dream" drops from #21 to #44 on the Billboard 200 chart. (No surprise to me) ~ "Traveller" by Chris Stapleton remained #1 ~

Yes this album has certainly stirred up the Elvis fans But I still stand by my original feelings that it is my most played Album since Viva Elvis and yes everyone i loved that as well but I luv IF I CAN DREAM album more As regards this album has nothing to do with Elvis that IS Elvis voice on the album if I'm not mistaken And founding clearer and more beautiful than ever I think Elvis would be more proud of this album than say a lot of the Film soundtracks of the 60s although I like a lot of the 60s output IF this album has nothing to do with Elvis Lex than neither does Any album released since 1977 are you saying they should have stopped releasing stuff? A lot of the albums released since we lost Elvis are better produced and mSke more sense than the haphazard way Elvis masters were released during his lifetime especially his mid 70s stuff which was great stuff but better albums cud have been put together better and besides things like a little less conversation and this NEW album are bringing in new fans to keep Elvis legacy going as Us old ones won't be around forever to keep things going and I don't want Ho keep buying the same old tracks over n over n over again It's great at last to listen to Elvis in a new light with this NEW album lately is the best I've felt Elvis release wise since b4 his passing LONG LIVE The New 21st Century ELVIS

I do not understand why Sony is not promoting this CD at all in the United States other than some initial TV interviews with Priscilla which were pathetic. There is no advertising, no stock of the CD in Walmart, Best Buy, Barnes and Noble, Target, etc. Does anyone get this? With no promotion it is doing ok but with real advertising it would be huge I think.
TheMemphisFan wrote on November 18, 2015
You have made some very valid points, moseleyman! :-)

I agree with you, throughitall. Whoever is running the marketing aspect of Sony Legacy doesn't seem to know what the heck he/she is doing. They're losing money by not promoting a clear money-maker. As usual they seem to take Elvis for granted.

Re: throuhitall. Not true of every store in the USA. I have been to Barnes & Noble and FYE in NJ and the album and CD have been displayed up front with the rest of the new releases. In fact, it was on top. It is true about TV & radio though. Nada, except for the Elvis channel on Sirius.

Thanks for the update Brian. With those figures Elvis will not be number one for a third week. But having said that, it has been an impressive chart listing for a man who has been fysically dead for 38 years. The release was done at a clever moment; just when no major act released their album. I mean: One Direction may top the list this week, but when Adele's "25" is being released next week, chances of a number one for IICD would be zero. She will be selling amazing quantities of CD's in the weeks to come. So Sony's strategy for IICD has worked (!). I expect the next major release to be in 2017. But what will it be? Will they continue with a IICD#2, or would that be a mistake? (Did this trick only worked once?). Personally speaking I would applaud a similar project, but this time with lesser known songs.

Well, yesterday was in Barnes and Noble in Green Bay and they were playing.........drumroll, please, IF I CAN DREAM! They also actually had several copies and the clerk told me they had sold out twice. However, still not in Walmart, Target and there are still no radio, TV or print ads --- what the heck is Sony thinking? And Priscilla also... Anyway, the clerk in Barnes and Noble said she had never listened much to Elvis and that she thought the CD was fantastic and everyone she knew who had listened thought the same -- the clarity of his voice and the accompaniment.
joemin wrote on November 21, 2015
throughitall, it is very encouraging to hear that. I would expect that sales will grow steadily as we get closer to Christmas. Brian Quinn said that Sony has a target of 500,000k sales in UK before the end of the year. They are almost half way there after 3 weeks.
