Dolores Hart At Elvisweek

June 04, 2013 | People

Elvis fans will have the chance to hear the remarkable story of Mother Dolores Hart, a Hollywood starlit turned nun who worked with Elvis in his early filming career, during Elvis Week 2013. Elvis' former "Loving You" and "King Creole" co-star will appear on the Elvis Week Main Stage during "Conversations on Elvis" on August 14, 2013. Purchase your tickets now.

Mother Dolores Hart stunned Hollywood in 1963, when after 10 highly successful feature films including two co-starring roles with Elvis, she chose to enter a contemplative monastery. In 1957, as a bright and beautiful college student, she made her film debut alongside Elvis in "Loving You" and later co-starred with the king in what many consider his finest acting performance in "King Creole." Mother Dolores Hart now serves a higher calling as prioress of the Abbey of Regina Laudis in Bethlehem, CT.

Now fifty years later, Mother Dolores has released a new book, “The Ear of the Heart: An Actress" Journey from Hollywood to Holy Vows,” detailing her fascinating account of her life and journey toward God. Hart, who is an active member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, continues to cast her annual vote and recently appeared in the 2012 Academy Award-nominated documentary and HBO Special "God is the Bigger Elvis."

She looked real innocent in those two Elvis movies. I know she was about to get married when she decided to become a nun. Her husband to be still visits her from time to time. He never got married.
