All told, that's 10,626 albums sold for the week. Most likely, that number would be dismal for a new artist trying to make it in the music business. For a guy that's been dead for 34 years, and for all of the songs being older than that, 10 thousand plus albums sold in a week probably looks pretty good. Extend that over a year, and you've sold 552,552 albums. Is it any wonder why Sony keeps pumping out new releases from the Elvis catalog?

It must be remembered that the albums listed are only a small representative sample of the full list as Elvis has a huge back catalog. Full details cannot be listed as one has to be registererd with Soundscan and that costs thousands of pounds. Only those in the music industry e.g. record companies can afford this information. The items that we do get information on are usually gained from 'contacts'.

I keep watching the sales of Afternoon in the Garden and so want it to get to 500,000 sales and become a Gold Record as well as Christmas Duets. If Sony would release fewer albums all of them would be gold or platinum. You cannot release all of this duplicate material and have everything sale huge numbers. I wish FTD would slow it down as well. 3 releases a year would be enough.

Of course, I am off topic again but no mention on this site of the anniversary of Aloha from Hawaii concert on April 4, 1973.
