Interesting that 4 out of the top 10 are 70's songs.? and of course the loyalty of Elvis fans is second to none. only hope Sony don't bring out a cd based on these results, although the results should show Sony that Elvis is indeed live and kicking in the UK if only Sony was?? more promo's, tv and radio air-time would make all the difference if Sony want to put Elvis back into the top 10. Jesse Garon Presley, i am with you regarding Jerome and his not so funny comments regarding all things Elvis.. still the more we talk about him the more he get's off with it? takes all kinds i suppose.

The amazing part is that so many tracks made it onto the list, Elvis accounts for nearly 10% of the total. Capital Gold are very good to Elvis, I hear him played every day, although the choice of songs played is not that wide. Having said that, they do play Elvis' records from the fifties, sixties and seventies.

Hi all...Im not sure if anyone realizes what an accomplishment this is!! Do we realize that El has 4 of the top 10 positions, (nearly 5, missed that by only 1), I mean HOLY CRAP...THATS ASTOUNDING!! I would be curious as to the rest of the listing and also how many votes for each, but really, 5 of the Top 11 spots..."My boy, my boy!"

I don't care that Queens Bohemian Rhapsody has been voted as the top song...Elvis will ALWAYS be number one with us!!!!

Excuse me guys if i seem a little dumb here but what exactly was this polls title ? Best 200 world songs, uk songs or what ?
Tony C wrote on May 05, 2011
I wouldn't think that at all, Rob, yours was a perfectly reasonable question. The poll was on the London based Capital Gold oldies radio station, now just called Gold. People had the opportunity to vote for their favourite songs on the station website, something they do from time to time. There were no boundaries, people could vote for anything they wished. Elvis has always done well, but I think this year he did better than ever. "Bohemiam Rhapsody" generally gets the number one spot, which can get quite boring, but every time I hear the song I am reminded of why it wins.
