It is with great sadness that we have to report the death of Sweet Inspiration member Sylvia Shemwell. As most Elvis fans know, original member Sylvia Shemwell suffered a stroke several years ago (2001) and her recovery has been slow, with her ability to speak and sing greatly compromised. Sylvia will be remembered fondly by millions of Elvis fans all over the world.

OH MY GOD... I AM SO SAD.. I had met her in 2000 during the concert tour. She will be missed badly. Hope she had found Elvis in heaven and her late family. Also for Myrna... Hope she gets better. I am so spechless that although she had many problems with her health, she kept going on for Elvis fans. Her devotion to Elvis is again speechless.. R.I.P. SYLVIA ... You were our inspiration and Elvis'...

Wow, this is really sad. I often watch the film "Thats the way it is".. and I love the fun moments, when Elvis teases Sylvia, on stage. He makes faces at her, she makes faces back, at him, and then he does something to startle her, and make her "jump", just to get a laugh. The Sweet Inspirations Loved Elvis and Elvis Loved them. You could see it everytime they performed together on stage.

Rest in peace Sylvia. You are so missed, and it´s so sad. When I think about Elvis in the seventies, I think about the Sweet Inspirations. Elvis did such a good choice when he wanted them to be his backup singers. Sylvia and the whole group has been so loyal to Elvis and his fans, before and after Elvis passed away. Elvis sure got a lot of his inspiration from Sylvia, Myrna and all the others.

Rest In Peace Sylvia. I go put a cd In my cd player and listen to when Elvis Is introducing The Sweet Inspirations and then I listen to the 'Sweet Inspiration Song". I was In Ahoy Rotterdam on 24 febr and It was great, I saw you on the screen, having fun with Elvis! Best regards Manon.
