Most fans (76%) think it is a good thing the FTD label goes head-to-head with the import world releasing the same concert officially. It's a funny result if you compared it to the recent poll about Madison, when over 70% thought it is a pity they left the stage. Anyway, the new quickpoll is about the latest FTD: Is Dixieland Delight a real delight?

nope -- here's why -- I'm personally very tired of the 70's live shows....IMO they should stop issuing them, its the same songs performed the same...so what's the point? I'd say go hunt for more rare 50's live recordings!

I think even Elvis got tired singing the same songs night after night. I prefer to go back to the originals anyway.

I agree, enough is enough! I collect all FTD cd's but these live recordings hardly ever get another listen, who has time for them all. They should collect really great individual performances or rarely performed songs and put them on one cd or a double set and let it be!

I've never been a soundboard fan. Reason: I don't like to listen to subpar recordings that doesn't reflect the content in balance with what was actually going on. Sometimes a bass i up front. Other times JD is up front and some instruments are hardly audiable. Since I collect everything FTD I must admit that there are times I've taken time to listen and also on the brinck of liking it. The latest offering from FTD is one of those! When most of the musicians, back up singers and Elvis are in some kind of balance, it's ok to listen to. We were not intended to have all these recordings in the first place. They are simply a historical guide to what happened! I prefer professionally recorded concerts and studio recordings above all. I take time to sit down and listen and enjoy most of those! I won't loose any sleep over any boot label that goes down the drain. I'm too busy with FTD!

the sound is good enough (for a sound board) and the packaging makes it a delight as well..

I agree with bajo. I find soundboard recordings dull. I much prefer audience recordings - at least they give you some idea of the excitement of seeing Elvis in person. Unfortunately most major artists are virtually condemned to sing their greatest hits at each show and it was obvious that Elvis grew tired of this. The 'Dixieland Delight' concerts are average but nothing special. However, the live FTD soundboards are historically excellent and I buy them all. It is a pity that FTD do not release DVD's of Elvis' concerts also. The problem is that EPE/CKX would not allow this.

I think I have enough live shows to last a lifetime. They are basically the same ,even the same jokes. The show basically never changed over the years and got worse as Elvis got more bored with it. I havent bought them all because the ones I did buy I maybe played twice at the most . I will probably wind up selling them at some point because I prefer to hear Elvis in the studio or watch him live on DVD.

I also am tired of the live releases. Same tired songs sung the same way & basicallyin the same order. I hate the tired joke especially the sticht about JD going lower. The concerts all sond alike. Really boring. From the comments below I see I am not the only one. If they could find just one unheard 50's song that would be great. I can only wish.

I agree that the shows do lack luster as the years rolled on, however, I do enjoy them all and listen to all at least once. I go for the historical content. Elvis is gone and no more chances to see him live. So I will take what's available and listen for some new chatter from Elvis, because that's really the only difference between most shows. But I do agree again, w/the posts.
