Rainbow Records Release Updates

May 11, 2009 | Music

The Rainbow Records import label announced that their double CD set "Exceeding All Expectations" containing the very last (and longest ever) show Elvis did in Lake Tahoe on May 9th, 1976 has completely  sold out. A new release from this label is due May 31, 2009.

From the press-release:

Again the producers of Rainbow Records have been working for months on a new project, as “best possible quality” is always what they claim for when releasing an audience-recorded Elvis Presley show. This time the “Rainbowers” have found four (4!!) different sources of tapes for Elvis´ famous “Last Cape on Tour” – Show in Atlanta on July 3rd, 1973. The concert also marked the closing of his June/July 1973-Tour. As you can imagine, the sound-guys from the “Rainbow”-Studio did their best – spending a total of 7 weeks - to make their new release sound as good as possible! You can expect Elvis in great mood doing a fine set of songs like the rarely performed “Memphis Tennessee”, “Something”, Help Me Make It Through The Night” and many others. Needless to say that the CD booklet will have its “usual” 20 pages full of rare photos, articles, memorabilia.

Full Tracklist:

1. 2001 Theme 2. C.C. Rider 3. I Got A Woman / Amen 4. Help Me Make It Through The Night 5. Steamroller Blues 6. You Gave Me A Mountain 7. Love Me 8. Blue Suede Shoes 9. probably a great concert and great packaging but playing nowadays an audience recording does make me feel like desperado..

A great concert for Ftd if they have access to a soundboard tape of this show!

'Last Cape On Tour'? Has it really come to this... Who cares if he was wearing a cape or was dressed as a member of the French Foreign Legion?

Cape or no cape, this concert is one of the best our man gave. it is highly recommendable. for years I was waiting for a silver disc release of this gem, the tape that surfaced is much better than the CDR floating around in collectors circles for years now. not as good as Royal Gambit. anyway this release is worthwhile in any case. Elvis at his best. a powerhouse performance. Memphis Tennessee complete, What Now My Love spoken lyrics...

A tour show from 73 at last!! I hope the sound quality will be much better than the cdr release. Definitely one of the best tours from Elvis. Looking forward to this one!

I just wonder why Presley didn't do "Memphis" while being on the air in Hawaii. Long distance information, give me Memphis...lyrics would have iftted perfectly...;-)
