Elvis In Concert Returns For European Tour

April 15, 2009 | Other

The “Elvis Presley in Concert,” production that reunites Elvis’ former bandmates live on stage with a video-projected Elvis, will tour Europe in February and March of 2010, it was announced today. After multiple, sold-out concert tours and a hiatus of nearly two years, worldwide public demand is at an all-time high for this Elvis concert experience.

This latest tour will include engagements in England, Ireland, Scotland, Holland and other European countries to be announced soon.

“Elvis Presley in Concert” is a production of SEG Events, in association with Elvis Presley Enterprises, Inc. (EPE). It is produced by Stig Edgren of SEG Events. Performers currently scheduled to participate include: Joe Guercio, Elvis’ orchestra conductor for many of his Vegas performances; members of the original TCB Band; Elvis’ backup singers The Imperials and The Sweet Inspirations.

The show's concept is to present an authentic Elvis Presley concert. The producers have edited together a collection of Elvis' finest concert performances that exist on film and video and removed all sound from the footage except for Elvis' vocal track. The Elvis footage is projected on state-of-the-art video screens. On stage, singers and a 16-piece orchestra perform live in sync with Elvis on video. All music heard in the concert production is performed live. Elvis concert footage for the show comes primarily from the MGM concert films Elvis, That's The Way It Is (1970) and Elvis on Tour (1972); outtakes from these two films as seen in the video package entitled Elvis, The Lost Performances; and the historic 1973 global television special Elvis: Aloha from Hawaii, via Satellite. This footage contains some of Elvis' finest performances from the concert era of his career.

This is the news many fans have been waiting for. I will be at both London shows.

I just wonder if the outtakes are diffrent from the ones used last time for Elvis in Concert...if not I will skip this one I guess.

Indeed, this is what I am waiting for. I unfortunately missed the earlier concerts, so I am all in for it. Though I always enjoy the TCB band, with or without the orchestra, with some singer (most of them are sort of okay), this is the ultimate thing I can expect in this time frame. So see AND hear the King. That's what it is all about, as I always dearly miss his presence during a concert.

Tickets for 'Elvis In Concert' at the O2 Arena in London go on sale at 9 a.m. on 22nd April and cost £35 and £37.50. Very reasonable.

I'll be there for sure. Don't know the venue or day, yet. But will be there!
