Elvis' Jet Sold At Auction

December 21, 2008 | Music

Elvis Presley's 1962 Lockheed Jetstar JT 12-5 was auctioned off December 20, 2008 at the South Point Casino in Las Vegas. The expected price this plane would fetch was around one million US dollars. After 12 bids, it closed at $700,000.00 US dollars.

This is said to be the last jet that Elvis owned. Elvis Presley only owned 3 jets, the first two are in the Graceland Museum. This is the only one in private hands. Is as Elvis used it, this jet has not been modified. A rare opportunity to own a most desirable exhibition." said the auctioneers before the auction.

Sorry but this was NOT the last jet he owned. The Lisa Marie was. In fact I recall that Elvis was terrified of flying until the late 60's. According to the seller he owned it as far back as the early 60's. If that was the case then why did he need to borrow Frank Sinatra's private plane to go off for his honeymoon? Me smell something fishy with this. I doubt it was even his jet to begin with. Maybe this is why EPE didn't bid on it.

A 1962 jet does not mean Elvis flew the thing in the same year. The Lisa Marie for example, was built in '58.. Maybe this is the plane Elvis bought for Tom Parker (who refused it;) Don't count on many flying hours by our man, Elvis mainly used the Jetstar & the LM. + the Playboy jet of course! (1974) Cheers...
