I'd sure like to have a rerelease with a more satisfying ending and less karate moves of Kurt..

Why do people like anything Elvis,no matter how it makes him look? kurt was pathetic in that movie!

Watching it once was too much in my opinion. They need to bury it and let it rest in peace.

While "Elvis: The Movie" is an inaccurate, shallow biopic of Elvis; The sad fact is that it is easily the best drama ever made about Elvis (Which will give some idea of how piss-poor all the others are). At least Kurt Russell has respect for Elvis, I suppose. But never-the-less, not a great loss to the world of DVD if this is not released. I have to admit a certain fondness for it though: I bought my first Elvis badge at the cinema when it came out, I was about ten and I still have it; ah, memories. One other point: Apparently there is a full 180 minute long version of ETM out there and this version, by all accounts, makes much more sense as all the scenes rely on the cut scenes in order to mean anything. Anyone seen it? This might explain why a film directed by John Carpenter didn't quite make the grade.

You gotta love the 'Vegas' scene at the end which looks like it was filmed in a working men's club. In one print I saw, Kurt actually won the meat draw.

I never want to see this movie again. It depressed me.

Scoff all you want, but this remains one of the better biopics on Elvis. I watched it on ABC-TV in 1979 along with millions of Americans (it was top-rated for the week) and find the screen-play rather well-done and Kurt's portrayal quite convincing in many ways. Oh, well. I guess I'll hunt for bootleg.

Well this is a shame but life goes on and I have a tv copy. Would be nice if we could get it on DVD. I do remember when the movie first aired. I was a teenager and thought it was great. Especially the part where Elvis is talking to Jesse. I do have a question for Mature Elvis> What move do you think is better. And dont say THIS IS ELVIS. Heck that is going to be better because it had ELvis in it. Was Dale Midkiff with his fake sideburns better? Michael St. Gerad did pretty good but he only played the role of the young Elvis. I know you think David Keith did a great job as the kidnapped ELvis in Heartbreak Hotel no wait a minute how bout Bubba HO-Tep star Bruce Campbell. OHHHHHHHHHHH how I forget the latest great actor who play our favorite Johnathan Reyes Myers. I am having fun. Who is the winner Mature Elvis?

Why would anyone want a movie with somebody other than Elvis playing Elvis? I can't understand that. No matter who they get to do it, it will never be any good because the real thing is impossible to duplicate or imitate. I saw this when it came out and thought it was pretty pathetic. It's amateurish and looks like a cheap TV movie.

Not bothered.Didn't like the film anyway, Russell over acted.

The thing is i dont think theres a better movie, theres just not one been made that actually covered Elvis in a complete way, they either do the young Elvis or the love sick Elvis etc, movies like 10000 miles to graceland(is that correct title) do nothing for Elvis, and didnt kurt play in that? were are the movies thats cover Elvis the artist? i also think kurt acting in Elvis the movies was over the top,if this movies is the best movies made on Elvis then it says alot of what goes lacking with Elvis products,Quality Quality Quality, but thats nothing new now is it?

Your right Harvey. If you want to know about Elvis, read a book. If you want to be entertained, watch Elvis. :-)

Yes Elvisnites your right about Harvey. Wish I'd though that one.
