Lisa Marie and Riley With Oprah

September 11, 2007 | People
Lisa Marie performed her duet with Elvis 'In The Ghetto'. It seems to be that the negative comments on the original clip where huge. A lot of people thought that the footage with the baby's with guns where to shocking. In the 'new' clip, the guns are gone. After the song, Lisa Marie and her daughter Riley (who gives her first TV interview) where interviewed by Oprah. Lisa Marie says that she picked the song, which she recorded with her father to raise funds for charity, very carefully. "I felt that it had a lot to say and it made a great point. I've been asked for years to do a song with him, by his fans, so it made a lot of sense to do that one," Contactmusic quoted her as saying. A part of proceeds from the sales of the song will be used to support the ongoing New Orleans, Louisiana relief effort, which became clear shortly after Lisa Marie had picked the song. "I ended up going to New Orleans because the director I wanted was in New Orleans... and as I was going from the airport to go shoot the video, I'm looking at all this abandoned, desolate... place that I was thinking was being repaired," she said. Lisa Marie admitted that she found working on the two-hour recording session very tough. She even went on to say that the recording session brought her to tears. "I don't sing as well as he does... I don't usually get emotional (about this)... so I knew that was something special, that moment," she said.

I was honestly thrilled to see this performance. I have been very disappointed in Lisa's visual support of her father's legacy in recent years, so hopefully this is a turning point. Lisa Marie Presley could be the figurehead of EPE in future years but it will require a "hands-on" approach. Oh I do hope so!

Just heard the song on the car radio and I like it! Much better than seeing the video. You feel it more and she sounds pretty damn good. Listener response has been positive also. Could be a big hit.

You gotta be thankfull for that Oprah really let Lisa off the hook easy. I mean, Oprah could have put som pressure on Lisa by following up the 1st question on the songs message and it´s original video etc, and then Lisa would be in the corner.. but Oprah has no interest in doing so to a guest like Lisa Marie Presley who might be naive, but maybe has a heart of gold?! I´d like to think so anyway, and though I´m not a fan of this duet, I wish her all the best, both for her and this cause, and her father would of course have been VERY proud no matter what. I just wonder why she had to go and pick THAT classic song when it´s not suited as a duet? and there were tracks like "New Orleans" from King Creole to do instead.(!) It would have suited the carity cause like "a glove".

Why does bollox like this get so many views and reactions? Lisa Marie Presley is not Elvis Presley. Go to her site if you want to read about her. Just because she is his daughter doesn't mean she should be featured on Elvis websites. Personally, I'm sick of her leeching off her dad's name.

Lisa did a great job with Elvis on the duet ... and a lot of us are interesting in Lisa doing duets with Elvis ... so thank you elvisnews.com for including news on Elvis' pride and joy Lisa and his beautiful grandchildren. those of you who do not like her, don't read stories that include her.

I agree with you Harvey Alexander. That these women must duets on Frank sinatra. Why always Elvis Presley. Two unemployed made money and I'm sick of her leeching off her dad's name too. And please the DNA proof.
