Britney Plays Homage To The ’68 Comeback (?)

As the MTV Music Awards opened, with a red and black backdrop and Britney Spears looking straight into the lens singing ‘If You’re looking for trouble, you cam to the right place…’ its very obvious that this was MTV's own take on the ’68 Special. The performance featured the same style background Elvis used.
Although a few viewers have commented on Britney's lacklustre performance and lack of clothing too, this is the second time that Britney has made a reference to Elvis, with the first occasion being the well-known shot of her in an Elvis-style jumpsuit to promote a Las Vegas concert screened on HBO in 2001.

I make it a point never to watch the MTV music awards. I missed the Britney special from Vegas. But I did see one from Hawaii that I enjoyed.

Thanks to put a question mark. ;-) Her "performance" was embarassing to say the least, and I'm not sure it's good for our guy to be associated with one of the dumbest girls in the show business. This woman is a mess.

I've never met Britney or conversed with her personally. So I won't comment on her intelligence level (or lack therof). As for this woman being a mess, the same could have been said for "our guy" much of the time. Sort of like the pot calling the kettle black.

If they had of used Miss Piggy she would have done a better job. Was she trying to be sexy in the beginning or did she almost forget the words. It's ashame she didn't show up for rehearsal with the rest of the cast. Now I know why I don't watch the MTV awards. Even the women in the audience were laughing. Thank you for putting the origional on. I didn't want to have that vision in my head all night.

Poor Britney...a lady who had it all and let it slip away !...Her relationship with no-good Kevin ruined everything and was the worth thing that could've happened to her. The sad part though are the kids in all this...I've read comments in some news reports that they were making bad comments upon the extra-pounds that she gained...for heaven's sake she just had 2 pregnancies, give her a break !...I think she still looks good in spite of it all...but she did lose the rythm to the music...The analogy to Elvis's comeback was not such a bad idea although the King's own is and remains unbeatable. Chris Angel didn't provide any of help required !

it supposed to be her comeback, that's why she picked this elvis-setting. In my humble opinion, I don't think Elvis would have liked this kind of music..

What's with the poor Britney business! Kevin may be a jerk but she's responsible for her own actions. You can't put all the blame on him or anyone else. Anyone who has to report each week & drop 2 positive screens to be able to keep her kids is not a novice to the drug/alcohol world. Just about everyone on this site has stated over & over again that Elvis was responsible for his addiction to script drugs & I agree. Britney & her crowd are no different.
