Lisa Marie Health Problem

June 25, 2007 | People
Lisa Marie Presley, daughter of Elvis Presley and former wife of Michael Jackson, has revealed she contracted mercury poisoning after botched dental work.

Speaking about the illness, she described how she suffered multiple symptoms: "My body started to deteriorate. I started to have panic attacks. One week it was asthma, hypoglycaemia, candida, reflux. I had everything. I wound up in the hospital. I had everything happening -- my body completely fell apart.,There are two commonly recognised forms of mercury poisoning: acute and chronic poisoning."

The first -- which isn't terribly common nowadays -- is thought to be linked to the presence of ulcers in the stomach and with toxic discharges in the kidney. Though not as serious as chronic poisoning, the consequences are scarcely trivial: sufferers may become anaemic and have trouble passing water -- this is because they have developed anuria which means they cannot form urine.

Chronic mercury poisoning, in contrast, can affect an individual in a multiple of ways, all of them serious in the extreme. They may experience diarrhoea, tremors, impaired vision, slowed reflexes and emotional instability. People have been dying from mercury poisoning since the start of recorded history. We can blame mercury for the expression 'mad as a hatter'.

For Lisa Marie, at least, the story has a happy ending. She sought out a homeopathic doctor who told her mercury was leaking from her fillings, causing her to feel unwell. As soon as the fillings were removed, she started to recover. "They try to say mercury is safe," she said. "But it's the second-deadliest poison known to man, underneath plutonium, and it's in people's teeth."

What a tabloid story :-) "Hopeopatic doctor" - hahaha. So she visited some "wizard" or woodoo and he told her, "hey Lisa, your fatigue is cause by "mercury leaking"... unbelievable. Anyone with basic knowledge of anorganic chemistry must have good laugh now. Btw, I was never thinking that Lisa have mercury amalgama fillings. It must be really nice to see... I am not celebrity but all my filings are polymeric - white. Anyway, good that she was not poisoned by plutonium...she will shine like real star then.... maybe the next time ;-)

Do the symptoms of this terrible illness include being a useless bint who will believe any old shite? Yes Lisa...mercury poisoning...cheque book...zeros...lots of zeros will purge your body of this toxin. Bloody fruitcake. Years of chemical abuse and she gets knocked out by a filling. Mmm...does she have a new album coming out or something?

Hmmm You people are so nice. It sounds like a very nasty illness to contract and I for one am glad she recovered Ok.

bray77 wake up! Whole story is bull****. Typical tabloid "info". If she will suffer from chronic poisoning by Hg, no "homeopathic doctor" will help her. Having exam of toxicology, I can say this.

Of course it's tabloid junk. By why is it her fault they print such unbeliveable stuff?

Glad your feeling better, and ignore people who show disrespect for you. You have proven yourself as a separate entity from your dad, and are to be commended. TCB!

I would have thought with all the money she has that she would have had white fillings instead of mercury ones.

This is not recent news. This is from the April 2003 cover story in Rolling Stone Magazine.

I hope it didnt cause any damage to her brain. But then again one must have a brain too be damaged.

Leave Lisa Marie alone. I hope she is well. You fools call yourselves Elvis fans and then make fun of his only child. Shame on you low life euro-trash. God Bless Elvis and Lisa!

I really can't believe these Elvis fans...Really... What's wrong with you? Why do you keep thinking Lisa as a shadow of his father??? She is another personality and she has her OWN music. And by the way, as Jeff Buckley had been an inspiration for the group "Coldplay",Lisa' music will be a unique inspiration for many new groups in the future. God Bless Lisa, shame on you those fans...

I wonder what ELVIS would think reading these reactions to news about his beloved daughter. Showing my respect and gratitude also means not to ventilate feelings that (might) hurt.

I think some of the comments are disgusting.
Ruthie wrote on June 26, 2007
By the way, this so-called illness occured back in 2003 when she became ill at a performance in Detroit. These rags are so desperate for news that they have to dredge up the old stuff. And to think this site just accepts this stuff as news.
Mystery Rider wrote on June 26, 2007
Lisa is not a shadow of her father nor does she claim to be, because elvis was not an idiot, thus she is an idiot all unto herself next time she puts her fingers in her mouth on a TV interview she need someone to take her out of fantasyland and get her a 9 to 5 job.

First of all Lisa is right about what she says - that stuff in the mouth IS medically prooved damaging to our health. And what is concerning the critics Lisa has to put up with: this is also a natural procedure people go thru that are envying her and that are jealous, that don`t credite her own personality she has build up thru the years, and those of course don`t realize that if you do love Elvis- like for example I love him- you automatically love the "apple of his eye" just as well. A human problem, I guess. It´ll never quit - will always be the famous evil seed that manufactured greed...unfortunately.

Lisa Marie has done some strange things (most notable her marriage choices) BUT to make fun of someone's illness is not cool. I will tell you this. I met her several times in NY and she is one cool person. Always signing autographs and posing for pictures with fans. She is not stuck up or a snob which so many of todays stars are. So give her some slack as a person even if you dont like her music.
Viva wrote on June 27, 2007
Leave poor Lisa alone, what can she have possibly done to deserve such disrespect? It's not like she's sold off Graceland, or stood by and done nothing while Elvis has been publicly ridiculed and slandered in the media, or anything is it. I love it when the "Lisa Lovers" and the "Love Elvis, Love Lisa" brigade get all rattled. Wind 'em up, and watch 'em go.

I've not commented on anything here before as could not figure out how to! LOL I can understand how some feel, but the problem she had in 2003 that has came to light here is a r e a l problem. I have had the same thing & it was not fun. Your sick & not sure why. See ya all in Memphis!

We all, Elvis fans, should not disrespect her. However: Lisa & her mother should be much more "listening" to what EP fans really want and alove all question what the record labels throw at the public or fans (in caseFTD). Most released stuff is garbage and not good for Elvis' image. She should set up a Committee of EPFClub presidents (rotating 20 members from all over the world) and meet with those at least twice a-year. Then make up her mind and suggest kindly but firmly (read: must do) to SonyBMG what to release in the next 18 months !! That's called professional planning and pro-active marketing. Then we will get the remaining studio session outtakes, the movie outtakes that would sell well, the EonTour CD3Box (hopefully with DVD together containing part of the 12 concerts that EP gave in 1972 plus rehearsals), we could then perhaps get more innovative Double Album Features on FTD (GTimes & Fool & bonus songs like 8 min. Don'tthink 2x, and hits of that period like GMan, BLove, Matter of time, Sep ways etc - same for PromLand & From EPBlvd plus plus, same for Lletters & Now plus, same for Today & Moody Blue plus...) Ernst was right at the time to release those Double albums on CD except was wrong in not adding bonus hits and outtakes to those (both for general public and fans). We would expect Lisa & Cilla to do much more for Elvis fans...not just show up inMemphis and cheer...and hopefully pray on Aug 16th....Apart from laughing to the bank all the time they both should keep us, millions of Elvis fans, always first in mind. Anyone listening ?

Sirbalkan wrote: "Why do you keep thinking Lisa as a shadow of his father???" Because she's a very pale shadow of his father:) In fact, she's a jobless,sponge,middle-aged woman and the only thing some of you respect her is the fact that she's Elvis' daughter. If she's ill, that's her personal problem,i don't care. I'm an Elvis fan,and not a Lisa Marie fan. She's a piker, you know it too.

While im not a lisa fan,her lack of respect for the one person(her daddy) who gave her what she has is a turn off,i dont wish bad things for her and it doesnt make anyone who does not sound any better saying bad things, even if your like me and are not a fan of her!
mature_elvis_fan75 wrote on July 10, 2007
By the way the thing about her that sticks out is when howard stern made a comment about her dad that was very sick and disrespectful, yet she sat there and didnt say anything,or get up and say excuse me and walk out, still i wish her no ill will!
Steve V wrote on July 10, 2007
Im with you on that mature. Stern has been ragging Elvis for years. She should have never done his show. I was very upset that she did.

This is a very old story. Lisa Marie was ill when she was living in Florida about six years ago. There were magazine articles about it at the time. I believe she is in good health now. She is a good singer in her own right, and her concerts were enjoyable and successful, and she builds a friendly rapport with her audience. She is so like her dad in that respect. Her fans are just as loyal to her. I like Lisa Marie and I enjoyed her shows. No one can measure up to Elvis, and I will always love him. I thank God I saw him. By the way, I think "Fly Trouble" means "her" father.
